Championship title race heads to Yorkshire whilst relegation teams struggle - odds watch

Championship matchday 20 offered us a little more clarity at the top and bottom of the table, and as things stand, we are heading towards a Yorkshire title race!

Leeds remain Bookies' favourites despite table saying otherwise

After failing to go back up to the Premier League last season, Leeds United have been expected to return to the top flight ever since and so far, things are heading in that direction.

With four wins in their last five games, they are firmly on track and the market thinks they are the most probable title winners - a price of 8/13 is available with Betway!

Sheffield United are the league leaders at present - though only by a point - but they have not lost a game since October 23rd.

Priced at 7/2 by Ladbrokes, there could be value in the Blades' title hopes, especially if their form continues.

It is worth mentioning that they are approaching a very difficult run of games which could shape up the division.

Promotion Race tightens across the board

Despite only being four points behind the league leaders, Burnley are quite the outsider in the title race, so it is probably more fitting to discuss them in a promotion picture.

The Clarets are on a fine run at present, and they could still offer a bit of value in the E/W market for the title (10/1). More interestingly though, they are above evens for promotion with most bookmakers, which is a decent offer.

The market then takes us to the North East, where Sunderland and Middlesbrough follow. Punters can get around 2/1 for both teams, with bookmakers struggling to pick between the teams.

After beating Coventry last night - who were one of our favourites to do well in the pre-season preview - West Bromwich Albion's promotion hopes have increased with their odds shortening to 7/2 with some bookmakers. Blackburn have gone slightly under the radar recently and sitting fifth, they are a decent shout for a promotion punt at 7/1.

Gap emerges at the bottom of the Championship

Only three teams will be relegated at the end of the season, and right now, there are five or six contenders.

Hull sit bottom of the division, and the bookies are quickly shortening their price for them to be relegated. 5/2 seems like it could be some good value, but with a new head coach, we have to give it some time.

Portsmouth are the second favourite to go down, despite currently sitting outside of the bottom three and having the best record of anyone inside the bottom five in the past five games.

The favourites to be relegated are currently Plymouth Argyle, and they are the only team the bookies unanimously think will not beat the drop - 4/11 is the highest price available with William Hill.

Winless in their last five, Oxford United are another team to watch at the bottom end of the division.

QPR have seemingly turned things around recently, and could be heading towards a slightly safer position. We'd also keep an eye out for Derby County, priced at 13/2, which is certainly interesting.
