Benjamin Sesko is walking a familiar path at the moment having first landed on most people’s radars with RB Salzburg in Austria before adding the flashing lights to transfer dashboards everywhere when he moved to German side RB Leipzig in July 2023.
His performances for Leipzig have been seriously impressive too with 18 goals and two assists in his first season with the club. Halfway through that campaign, in January, he was linked with an exit and rumours gathered further pace in the summer albeit without consequence.
This season though, Sesko has continued his learning with Leipzig whilst continuing to show his ability to put up numbers. He’s bagged 21 goals and provided six assists taking his Leipzig record to stronger than one goal involvement every other match.
With those numbers, tender years and qualities that reach well beyond simply taking chances in front of goal surely the time has now come for him to leave Leipzig and take on a new challenge, particularly with Leipzig having missed out on European football altogether next season.
With multiple teams likely interested, it is fair to say that Sesko will not come cheap.
Is it too much of a stretch to suggest that Arsenal would have won silverware this season had they pushed the boat out and signed Benjamin Sesko last summer? It’s a deal they were heavily linked with, and, as they say, there is no smoke without fire.
Right now, those smoke signals are in the air again. Their longstanding interest in him will surely appeal to the player too, alongside what Arsenal offers from a pure history and structure perspective.
The Gunners have been crying out for a striker all season, and it is nailed on they bring in at least one centre forward in the summer.
With Sesko’s ability to run the channels, hold the ball up and link play, he is every bit a Mikel Arteta type player and, as such, he’s going to be very high up the list of transfer targets – albeit perhaps not as high as Viktor Gyokeres.
The market for Gyokeres is likely to be a tough one, though and therefore, Sesko to Arsenal remains a real possibility.
With Sesko believed to have a gentleman’s agreement “release clause” with the Leipzig hierarchy, Arsenal could get this deal over the line very quickly should they wish to do so.
It’s plausible the Gunners try to bring that fee down though, which would potentially allow them to explore additional deals with it believed a secondary “project” striker not out of the question.

RB Leipzig will be loathed to lose Benjamin Sesko this summer. They’ve endured a poor Bundesliga campaign with the young talent once again their star performer and top scorer.
Equally, though, are they going to stand in his way if a big money offer lands on the desk? We can’t see it.
At 3/1 the bookies clearly think there is a chance Sesko stays put next season, but that is surely more driven by doubts over clubs bidding the relevant price for his services rather than believing Leipzig have a compelling argument for the player to stay.
That, for us, places into question the value of the odds on offer.
There are countless clubs in the need of a striker this summer, and Sesko has proven over a couple of years that he is capable of delivering at a high standard of football on a consistent basis.
With no European campaign awaiting next season and a potential World Cup next summer, Sesko is going to want to be dining at one of the big boy tables in 2025/26.
Forget the offer that might submitted, if there is interest in Sesko then you have to expect the player to push for a move to happen too, and that will leave Leipzig with little choice but to negotiate an exit.

Liverpool have scooped the Premier League title, tied the attacking talents of Mo Salah down to a new contract and still they are said to be in the market for reinforcements. That is likely to be very true.
Despite the success Arne Slot has enjoyed in his first year as manager at Anfield, he didn’t do much business in the transfer market and will want to evolve his squad during the summer window.
A striker is likely to rank highly on his priority list too, particularly with Darwin Nunez tipped to leave.
Could Sesko be one the club look at? Possibly. Well, almost definitely from a consideration standpoint.
Whether that becomes anything more than an internal conversation remains to be seen. Fellow Bundesliga striker Hugo Ekitike is another name said to feature on the Liverpool list.

If you are betting on value, Sesko to Chelsea seems like a more plausible transfer than Sesko to Liverpool from where we sit.
Primarily because Chelsea are nailed on to sign a striker this summer, with their reliance on Nicolas Jackson having caused them a real problem throughout the campaign.
Sesko fits the profile of Chelsea signing too. He’s fairly proven but still has huge quality upsides to be unlocked through coaching and experience, and hits their criteria for signing young players.
The big doubt that you could perhaps angle at any potential move is the fact that Chelsea have largely been burned by transfer dealings with Leipzig in the past, with Christopher Nkunku and Timo Werner.
