Denmark vs. England: Betting Tips Outlined

Under 8 corners - 11/8 at Bet365

For the second game of the tournament, we are going to revisit a market we had success with in England's first game against Serbia, and we think that the same line could provide value once again.

Whilst Denmark had eight corners per game in the qualification process, and had nine in their first game against Slovenia, England only conceded 15 in qualification, and two in their first game, which means that there could be some fantastic value in less than eight corners, if not lower.

Trent Alexander Arnold Over 1.5 Shots - 11/8 at Bet365

We tipped Trent Alexander Arnold to get one shot alongside Declan Rice in England's last fixture, and Trent certainly fulfilled his end of the selection, with three shots during the game.

In this game, we're looking specifically at the Liverpool defender (slash midfielder now?), and we like him to get two or more shots. Denmark's first game showed their vulnerability from range, as they conceded five shots from outside the box, and we think Trent could capitalise, especially with him on some set-pieces.

Christian Eriksen Over 1.5 Shots - 6/5 at BetMGM

Christian Eriksen is a fantastic choice for shots, and we think this fixture may prove this further. In Denmark's first fixture of the tournament, Eriksen had five shots - four from inside the box, and one from outside.

Whilst England may not allow him as many shots, he averaged two shots per game in qualification, and the Three Lions conceded five shots from distance in the opener, and Eriksen could capitalise, especially in a role with more freedom than he does at club level.

Bukayo Saka to Score or Assist - 6/5 at BetVictor

England's first game of the tournament proved how instrumental Saka can be, and we think that him contributing again this game could present some excellent value. Most of the attacks in the game came down his side, and we think he could be looked to relied on once again by Gareth Southgate.

With 25 contributions in 35 Premier League appearances last season, he is a world-class talent, who will cause teams issues. At above evens, and considering the previous game, this has a good chance we think.

Joachim Andersen to be Booked - 9/2 at Bet365

For this selection, we were quite torn. Joachim Andersen is a fantastic selection for a booking, given he has had two or more fouls in three of his past five games for club and country, including four in his past two fixtures.

Now, we were torn between him fouling twice in this game - which is close to evens with some of the best sports bookmakers if you want to play this safer selection- or for him being carded, but we think with the trickiness of England's attack, especially Phil Foden who will be his opposition, a booking could be on the horizon.

Denmark vs. England: Preview

After eliminating the Danes in the semi-final of the previous Euros, we expect this game to be a very back-and-forth game, given both sides have a fantastic amount of quality to them.

Whilst it may not be a high-scoring fixture like some of the other games we have seen in the tournament so far, we think it will be a very enjoyable game, with some excellent odds available for punters.

Group C after first game

England - Team News and Key Players

Although it was not the most entertaining 90 minutes, England were dominant in the first half, if not the first 60 minutes of their opening game against Serbia. There is rightfully some frustration that the Three Lions did not put their opponents to the sword further, but there are many positives to be taken.

As we stated before, England entered the tournament in awful form, considering that many have selected them as one of the favourites to win the tournament, but their first game showed why this is a very real possibility.

Reflecting on the game, maybe Gareth Southgate's side should have put their opponents to the sword more, which would be an understandable take, but as cliche as it is, delivering three points under the weight of expectation is huge.

We cannot go without praising Jude Bellingham and Bukayo Saka - who we have tipped for an impact this game. Both players were spectacular and were at the heart of what England did going forward, and Declan Rice was simply superb in midfield.

However, if the Three Lions are to progress far in this tournament, there must be more shown by Phil Foden and Harry Kane, who both had quiet games in the opener, at least by their standards. Attacks were mainly down Saka's flank, which left Foden out of the game in parts, and Kane seemed like a passenger in some parts, which cannot happen in future games.

Additionally, Southgate's side have won three of the last five games against Denmark, and they will look to extend their fantastic record against the Danes on Thursday evening.

If you are looking to back them to win, you will struggle to find better odds than 8/11 with most bookmakers.

England possible XI vs. Denmark (4-2-3-1): Pickford; Walker, Guehi, Stones, Trippier; Rice, Alexander-Arnold; Saka, Bellingham, Foden; Kane

Denmark - Team News and Key Players

Let's continue as we left it for the Danes, after the loss to England in the semi-final in 2021, Denmark have lost just eight games, including losses against Northern Ireland and France. However, they have been fantastic other than that.

In the qualification process for this tournament, they won seven of their 10 games, drawing once and losing twice, once against the aforementioned Northern Ireland, and the other to Kazakhstan.

With that being said, they are a fantastic side who will cause England problems without a doubt, for two reasons. Firstly, they have quality across the pitch, their backline is resolute and will frustrate the attacking lineup of England, and their own attacking line will give some problems to the opposing defence.

The key area, though, is the midfield. You can argue that there are very few midfield trios better than the Danish in this tournament, at least in terms of balance, and giving Christian Eriksen two more defensively-minded midfielders behind him, allowing him to roam in the pockets, is a very dangerous prospect for teams to face.

Additionally, they will have a desire for revenge after the events of the previous European Championship, when their elimination was dubious in some regard. The Danes took the lead in 30 minutes but eventually lost following a Harry Kane penalty rebound, where the initial penalty was questionable.

As expected in three years, there has been a gradual change away from some of the players who featured in the loss, but with some young blood coming into an experienced core, it is understandable why some view the Danes as a 'dark horse' for this tournament.

If you are looking to take on the favourites for this game and back the Danes to win, you will struggle to find better odds than 5/1.

Denmark possible XI vs. England (3-4-1-2): Schmeichel; Andersen, Christensen, Vestergaard; Maehle, Hojbjerg, Hjulmand, Kristiansen; Eriksen; Hojlund, Damsgaard
