NRG BET is a new betting site which launched in the UK at the beginning of 2024, relatively quickly attracting punters thanks to the Playbook Gaming backing. In this review, we take a look at everything you need to know, from the payment methods and sportsbook depth to the welcome offers and customer service.

NRG BET can certainly ride the coattails of being a new betting site which uses the Playbook Gaming technology, offering an okay welcome offer as well - at least for the sportsbook. However, as soon as you dig a little deeper, it's clear that the bookmaker has a long way to go before it can compete with the best in the UK.
With few payment methods, a £10 minimum deposit, a lack of sports diversity and poor customer support, most punters will likely not stay at NRG BET for long. Having said that, the offering is okay for football as well as horse racing and this could be enough for some, though we would recommend using another bookie as your main one.

NRG BET has been operating in the UK since January 2024, certainly considered to be one of the new betting sites, and it has a very familiar look for most punters. This is because the site is owned by Sharedbet Limited, which is part of the Playbook Gaming conglomerate, and it features the same design and sportsbook as sites like Betzone.
The bookmaker hasn't exactly made shockwaves in its first year, but punters who already are familiar with the Playbook style now have another option to turn to. And with that, it means they have another welcome offer to claim, which is a big reason why NRG BET has accumulated a decent customer base so far.
Having said this, the information about NRG BET on the web is scarce and some punters might be hesitant to sign up. In this review, we will take a look at everything that NRG BET's sportsbook has to offer. We will also highlight the pros and cons, so that you can make an informed decision about whether to sign up or not.
NRG BET is owned and operated by Sharedbet Limited, which holds a licence from the UK Gambling Commission under account number 63635. In other words, the product is considered both legit and safe for UK punters to use, though the licence has never been a guarantee for high-quality sports betting.
Of course, since Sharedbet Limited and Playbook Gaming Limited come from the same people, there is greater legitimacy here. On Trustpilot, NRG BET has a rather poor rating - as many other UK bookies - with an average of 2.0 out of five stars. Most of the reviews seem to be complaining about games being rigged, though, so they should be taken with a pinch of salt.
It should also be noted that NRG BET is registered with IBAS, the Independent Betting Adjudication Service. This means that punters can escalate potential complaints to IBAS for an objective verdict, which registered bookies must comply with. This certainly increases the overall safety for punters on the site.
NRG BET currently offers two welcome offers for those who are looking to sign up on the site: one for the sportsbook and one for the casino. Sign-up deals have never been a speciality of Playbook Gaming, though, and this is rather evident when you compare NRG BET with the best welcome offers on the market.

The payment methods selection certainly isn't the biggest selling point of NRG BET, seeing as just two different methods are accepted by the bookie. Debit card and bank transfer, to be precise, and the minimum deposit - as well as withdrawal - is £10 and not £5 which many betting sites accept these days.

Since NRG BET is backed by Sharedbet and Playbook Gaming, punters are right to expect a certain standard when it comes to the sportsbook. We have previously reviewed sites such as Rhino Bet - which uses the same sportsbook technology - and as we considered the offering adequate there, this is also the case for NRG BET.
Just under 20 sports can be found on the site, which is rather low, and there are some special markets such as the US presidential election and odds for BBC Sports Personality of the Year. Focusing on football for a second, NRG BET offers around 150 markets for prominent games and there is also a bet builder, which has a decent amount of markets.
Having said the above, NRG BET has a long way to go before it can compete with the best football bookies in the UK. Moving on to horse racing, the bookie actually has a decent selection with UK, Irish, American and Japanese meetings. Only a few of the races have streaming, though, and there is no mention of best odds guaranteed which is a shame.
The rest of the sportsbook is decent, but not much more, and this is pretty much what you would expect from a Playbook Gaming product. The reality is that aside from the welcome offer, there is really no reason to sign up for NRG BET, especially when you consider just how many great betting sites there are.
It should be noted that virtual betting is available on the site, thanks to the added licence with the UKGC, but there are no Esports to bet on. We also tested the betting margins and the average came in at just under 7%, more specifically 6.99, which is decent but not fantastic.
NRG BET may be a new betting site, but there is actually an app for punters to download. Betting apps have become increasingly popular in recent years and there are now many good options on the market. For a new betting site to compete, in other words, an app is almost a must and it's nice to see NRG BET going down this path.
Since the app is so new, there are no average ratings on the App Store and the Google Play Store yet. In fact, the app only has just over 100 downloads on the latter platform and that says a lot, making it difficult to provide a proper verdict. Nevertheless, we feel that NRG BET deserves praise for even having an app in the first place.
Customer support is something that Playbook Gaming always has struggled with across all of its betting sites. While most betting sites tend to offer a live chat option, this is not the case at NRG BET as customers only have the option to send an email. As you can guess, the response time isn't exactly rapid over email, with the bookie looking to respond within 24 hours.
There is also limited information in the FAQs section, at least if you compare it with other bookies, and this certainly hurts NRG BET on the customer support front. Improvements are needed in the future Sharedbet, as well as Playboom Gaming, intend to reach the next level but it's also possible that they are happy where they are.

NRG BET has a section dedicated to Safer Gambling, with useful information listed, and there is also a 'Take Control of Your Gambling' message in the banner at the top of the site. In addition to deposit limits and play breaks, self-exclusion is a tool that punters who are really struggling can use, but it would have been nice to see time limits/pop-ups as well.
The bookmaker does the bare minimum, in compliance with the regulation, and for most punters this will not be an issue. However, those who have a predisposition to gambling addiction could feel more exposed on the site, and this isn't exactly ideal.
