BresBet UK Review - Is It Safe or a Scam? (2024)

Avoid BresBet is certainly not the best betting site on the market, suffering from a poor welcome offer, few payment methods and a lack of sufficient customer support.

Being a relatively new betting site, BresBet has aimed to carve out its space with a heavy focus on horse and greyhound racing. With a decent casino and sportsbook, how does BresBet stack up against its competitors, what are the pros and cons and more importantly, is it worth signing up on the site?

About BresBet

BresBet is a relatively new betting site, founded in 2021 by an avid punter and horse racing enthusiast named Nic Brereton. While the site is owned by the latter, it is operated by PlayBook Gaming Limited under a white-label solution. It is an operator that we have come across in the past, having reviewed sister sites such as DragonBet and Planet Sport Bet.

The main mission of BresBet is to go "back to bookmaking" - as the site states - and Brereton has also set up the BresBet Foundation, donating part of the profits to racehorse and greyhound welfare charities. The backstory of the founder certainly makes BresBet stand out a bit compared to other PlayBook Gaming sites. The question, however, is whether the product actually is that different in the end.

In this review, we will take a look at everything you need to know about BresBet. After reading this, in short, you should have a comprehensive view of the site and whether it is worth signing up or not.

Is BresBet Safe?

Since BresBet is operated by PlayBook Gaming, which is licensed and regulated by the UK Gambling Commission, the site is both legal and considered safe for bettors looking to get involved.

BresBet is also registered with IBAS, the Independent Betting Adjudication Service, which is another layer of safety for its customers. Eventual disputes between BresBet and customers can be escalated by the users to IBAS, where an independent ruling will be made. This ruling is also legally binding for registered sites.

Unfortunately, as is often the case with new UK betting sites, there are areas in which they simply cannot compete with the big bookmakers. It is also important to remember that while it may be legal, it is not a guarantee for the quality of the site, such as the number of payment methods or customer support options.

On Trustpilot, BresBet has a low rating at two stars out of five, while almost all of the reviews have been one-star ratings. Some have had their accounts with suspended, as is unfortunately the case often on UK sites, while others feel that the promotions encourage profit losses.

Welcome offer

Compared to some of the top welcome offers available, BresBet has opted for a rather interesting one and perhaps not in a positive sense. The offer is 50% back of net losses as a free bet up to £25. The amount is calculated based on the first day a customer places a bet, but to qualify customers must place three bets of at least £10 each on three separate events.

BresBet Welcome Offer

The bets must settle on the same day they are placed, and BresBet will then add the free bet amount to the customer's account the following day. It is worth noting that the free bet will expire after just 72 hours, and the stake will not be returned. In short, the whole process feels very rushed and might be tough for some customers.

Another rather disturbing point is that the welcome offer, which ideally is a fun way for new customers to get into betting, seems to encourage profit losses and that is never good. In any case, those who want to take part in the offer will have to enter the code 'welcome25' upon registration.

BresBet Promotions

For new bookmakers in the UK, it is essential to have good promotions for existing customers in order to compete with the big sites. And since the welcome offer was rather underwhelming, does BresBet make up for it with its promotions? Well, not exactly.

The biggest promotion on the site, at least based on the order, is BresBet's loyalty program. Customers can win a free bet of up to £200 every week, provided that they place at least three qualifying bets. There is no clear information on what is needed for the bets to qualify though, and BresBet only states that the value of the free bet will depend on the stakes placed during the week.

BresBet Loyalt Program

The loyalty program also gives customers the chance to win up to a £200 cash drop for the casino each week. Customers who have wagered at least £250 will qualify for the bonus, but as with the sportsbook there are no clear amounts provided. All customers know, at least before they have done it once, is that it will depend on the amount wagered during the week. In other words, Bresbet lacks sufficient information on the terms and conditions.

The overall focus of BresBet seems to be on horse racing, which is not that strange if you read the 'About BresBet' section above, and this is also reflected in the promotions. In a dead heat, for example, BresBet pays out for both the winners although the customer's stake is then capped at £50. However, the original bet can not be an ante-post one or part of an acca.

Given that it is one of the most popular sports in the world, BresBet also has a promotion dedicated to football. More specifically, it is a 10% boost on accas which have at least for selections. The big caveat, however, is that only the following markets qualify: Full Time Result, Both Teams To Score & Over/Under 2.5 Goals. Furthermore, the bonus is capped at £1,000. On the other hand, customers only have to bet £1 to qualify.

BresBet Deposit

When signing up at BresBet, customers will not have a plethora of payment methods to choose between. In fact, compared to other UK bookmakers, BresBet is quite far behind on this front as there are no E-wallets available. This is a huge con for potential new customers who want an extra layer of security when depositing funds, but they will have to check out the best e-wallet betting sites instead.

Below is everything you need to know about the payment methods available:

Payment Method Minimum Deposit
Maestro, MasterCard and Visa £10
Bank Transfer £10

How to Make a Deposit at Bresbet

  1. Make sure you are logged into your account
  2. Tap on the 'Account' tab and then select 'Deposit'
  3. Enter the amount you would like to deposit
  4. Choose the payment payment and add relevant details
  5. Complete the deposit and start betting

BresBet Withdrawal

As with deposits, the withdrawal methods at BresBet are scarce. MasterCard and Visa are available, which will suffice for many customers, but there are no E-wallets available. This is a major drawback as customers who want to rely on fast withdrawals when betting often turn to E-wallets, seeing as they are the fastest options.

Below is everything you need to know about the withdrawal methods available at BresBet:

Payment Method Processing time Minimum Withdrawal
Maestro, MasterCard, Visa 2-5 business days £10
Bank transfer 2-5 business days £10

How to Withdraw From BresBet

  1. Make sure you are logged into your account
  2. Tap on the 'Account' tab and select 'Withdraw'
  3. Enter the amount you would like to withdraw and the payment method
  4. Complete the withdrawal and wait for your money

How to Verify an Account at BresBet

As with any betting site, BresBet has a KYC - short for Know Your Customer - process in place to verify the identity of its customers. This is why new customers need to be wary when filling out their details upon registration, making sure everything is correct, as it will be important down the line.

After the registration process has been completed, and BresBet cannot verify the details, new customers will be prompted to verify their account before anything else can be done. To do so, the following documents will have to be provided:

  • Proof of identification: Driver's license or a passport
  • Proof of address: Bank statement, pay slip, HM Revenue and Customs letter, or a utility bill with name and address displayed (cannot be older than three months)

Customers may also have to provide proof of funds to BresBet, but they will only be asked to do so when certain thresholds have been surpassed.

BresBet Casino

Although BresBet's main focus appears to be sports, the casino section of the site is fairly decent. It does not come as a huge surprise, though, given that Playbook Gaming Limited offers casino services across all of the white-label sites.

There are over 30 providers and around 900 games available by our estimation. As you would expect, slots games make up a large portion of the site but customers will also be able to enjoy card games such as Blackjack and Roulette.

The casino is easy to navigate, as customers have many filter categories to choose between, such as 'Popular' and 'Slots Club'. They can also browse by provider, while there is a handy search function for those who are looking for something specified.

BresBet Casino

The biggest perk is perhaps the live casino, which is an are that has become more and more popular in the betting industry in recent years. Ezugi and Pragmatic are the two providers for this section and customers will be able to find classic table games such as Blackjack and Roulette, but there is no poker available. Other games include Boom City and Mega Wheel. Compared to other live casinos, though, BresBet does not have the same luxury appeal.

BresBet Sportsbook

Although the casino has a decent standard, it is clear that BresBet's main strength is the sportsbook. There is a range of sports to pick between, and BresBet also makes sure to keep the home page updated with the latest relevant betting options. While there is an evident focus on horse racing, football also has a spot at the top which is understandable in the UK market. Prominent sports on BresBet include the following:

  • Horse racing
  • Greyhound racing
  • Football
  • Cricket
  • Tennis
  • Other

While bet builder is available, football fans will be disappointed to hear that cash-out isn't available for those bets. Furthermore, while the available markets are sufficient when building a bet, it does not come close to a top bookmaker like Bet365.

The recent addition of greyhound racing is very useful, though, and just like for horse racing ante-post betting is available. Given that part of the profits at BresBet are donated to racehorse and greyhound welfare charities, fans of the sports might opt for this site instead of one of the top sport of kings bookmakers. Not to mention that the navigation is easy on BresBet.

BresBet Sportsbook

Minor sports such as handball, table tennis and volleyball also are available for betting, which is certainly worth a mention, and those who are tired of following actual games can turn to a small selection of virtual sports instead. The 'TV & Specials' section of the sportsbook also includes some interesting options, such as markets for BBC Sports Personality of the Year and Strictly Come Dancing.

Interestingly, there is no way for customers to bet on Esports at BresBet and this is something they could look to improve, seeing as the industry has grown a lot in popularity in recent years.

While it may not be a cause for concern for many, it should be noted that BresBet - like other Playbook Limited sites - have maximum payouts for every sport (ranging from £2,000 to £100,000). It is worth checking out the terms and conditions for the amounts on every sport, located under 'M) Maximum Payouts'.

BresBet Mobile App

While it is very possible to use your mobile browser to bet these days, there is no doubt that an app offers more convenience for the users. Presumably, that is why BresBet have decided to launch an app for both the App Store and the Google Play Store. Some new UK betting sites only have an iOS version available, or vice versa, so BresBet gets a plus in that sense.

BresBet App

On the App Store, the BresBet app has a decent rating of 3.9/5 stars as a result of over 30 reviews. On Google Play Store, the app does not have a rating due to a lack of reviews, amounting to a mere 100+ downloads. To download the app, simply head over to your store and search 'BresBet', after which you should be able to spot the betting site's logo.

From what we can tell, the app is more or less identical to the responsive mobile website in terms of style and navigation. Of course, this is not a problem as the mobile website is nice to use as well.

BresBet Responsible Gaming

As the number of betting sites available has increased in the last few years, responsible gambling has become of the utmost importance. Welcome offers and promotions aside, betting sites have to ensure that their customers have the necessary tools for healthy gambling.

BresBet is no stranger to this development, as with the other Playbook Limited sites, and there is a dedicated page for responsible gambling. The tools available on the site include:

  • Deposit limits
  • Play Break
  • Self-exclusion
  • GamStop

Deposit limits are always good to start with when signing up for a betting site. They ensure that your betting habits remain within reason and, most importantly, that no compromises are made. Customers can of course change their limits, but said change will only come into effect after 24 hours.

BresBet could do a better job of displaying the responsible gambling message, even if just with a small icon, more frequently on the site. To find the dedicated page today, customers must scroll down to the footer, which is not ideal.

BresBet Customer Support

Many new UK bookmakers often fall short on this front, and the case is the same for BresBet. While most betting sites offer 24/7 live chat, BresBet does not have the live chat option at all.

Instead, to get in touch with the team, customers have to send an email using this address, which is far from an effective method. The email can also be found at the bottom of the BresBet website, under the section 'Contact us'.

The same problem exists for the other Playbook Gaming sites and this is something the operator will have to look into. Regardless of how quickly the support team responds to emails, BresBet needs to add at least one more contact option for its customer support to be considered sufficient.

How to Start at BresBet

  • Step 1: Head over to bresbet.com and tap 'Sign Up'

You will find the 'Sign Up' button in the top right corner of your screen and it will take you to the registration process.

  • Step 2: Fill in your preferred account details

In the first step of the registration, you will be asked to enter your email address and preferred password for your BresBet account. Fill that in and then tap 'Create Account'.

  • Step 3: Fill in your personal details

In the second step of the registration, you will be asked to fill in your personal details such as full name and home address. At the bottom, you will also have the option to opt in/out of marketing offers. After that, tap 'Agree & Join'.

  • Step 4: Complete the verification process

Before you can start withdrawing your winnings, you have to complete the verification process by uploading proof of ID and proof of address. It is thus recommended to do this before depositing any funds, as you run the risk of getting your account suspended if not.

BresBet is a relatively new betting site and unfortunately, this shows on more than one front. The welcome offer is not very beneficial, more or less encouraging profit losses, while the sportsbook and casino do not stand out. The lack of an E-wallet among the payment methods is another huge drawback, as is the lack of sufficient customer support.

Therefore, sports bettors should look elsewhere if they are in the market for a new betting home, with plenty of good options available these days.
