BetWright entered the UK betting scene in December 2024, making it one of the freshest faces in the market. The company that underpins them, Onyx Gaming Ltd is also a new entrant to the space. Here, our BetWright review unpicks whether this duo is bursting on the scene or a bust waiting to happen.

BetWright describes itself as a “forward-thinking” and “innovative” bookmaker with a grounding in “safer gaming” and “great customer service”. However, the real question is how does it really stand up to those claims? In truth, it’s a mixed bag.
The casino offering is good, as is the number of sports it covers on the sportsbook side of things, but the markets within those sports could be better whilst the betting margin of 6.91% is average at best.
Where banking is concerned, the payment methods on offer are pretty poor but the timeliness of withdrawal and the associated limits are strong.
That largely just leaves the navigation and site design to discuss. Depending on what you’re trying to achieve and on what part of the site you’re on, you will likely find it highly intuitive or frustratingly over-complicated. Regardless of your view of that, you will not be doing it on a betting app either!

About BetWright
BetWright might be in its infancy, having launched in late 2024 with Onyx Gaming Ltd (UK Gambling Commission license 64666) by its side, but they are not messing about with a finger in several pies – namely sports, casino and a live casino.
The site is operated by Playbook Gaming, which is a well-known sportsbook and casino platform provider in the UK. Its brands include the likes of NRG Bet and Rhino Bet, while it also has partnerships with the likes of StarSports and BresBet. As such, BetWright already has quite a few sister sites.
With public reviews of the newcomer limited, we have taken our time to really get under the hood of BetWright to give you an honest insight into every corner of its offering – the good and the bad; there is plenty straddling both sides of that line.

The obvious thing to say here, before we go too deep, is that the Trustpilot rating for BetWright should be taken with a pinch of salt. That is not to say Trustpilot shouldn’t be used as a benchmark for site safety but because of how new BetWright is; the sample size of reviews isn’t great.
That said, we can only judge it on what is out there and a review score of 2.9 out of five is very strong as online bookies go. Trusted brands like Ladbrokes and bet365 both come up short of the 1.5 mark.
💰 Has BetWright Been Fined by the UKGC?
With BetWright and Onyx Gaming Ltd both in a relatively infant state it probably isn’t noteworthy to hear neither have had action taken against them by the Gambling Commission. Still, it’s good to have it confirmed, we guess.
How to Verify an Account on BetWright
Account verification is common practice amongst bookmakers and having an identity verification process is part of their obligation to their UK Gambling Commission licence condition. Most bookies will have a “we may contact you” type clause and whilst BetWright might choose to do that, they also have an account upgrade process that contributes to their account verification.
New users will start on a “Basic” account. This is shown under the account section against the “Account Level”. You can choose to upgrade to advanced; upgrading doesn’t come with a cost but does take you through three stages:

- Providing identification e.g. driving license or passport

BetWright Deposit Methods
The modern world sees people paying for things in various different ways and it’s fair to say BetWright has some serious work to do to catch up on that front.
The deposit process itself is simple and easy to follow but there is a serious lack of choice when it comes to the deposit methods; using a debit card is your only choice. Clearly, the absence of any e-wallet methods is a clear own goal from BetWright.
There are some positives to the deposit piece though namely the fact punters can deposit from as little as £1; that’s pretty much as low as things get in the marketplace. An upper limit of £5,000 isn’t the biggest around but it does give that vast majority of punters plenty of headroom to play.

Ensure you’re logged into your account and access your account menu by clicking on the head and shoulders icon located in the top right corner.

Set Your Deposit Amount
There are two ways to input your required deposit amount. You can click in the grey box and type in the amount you wish to deposit or you can use the quick set buttons that are shown below the deposit line; any tap on these buttons combine to grow your chosen deposit amount so tapping £10 and £20 would actually sum to a £30 deposit.
Once done, his “Pay Using Debit Card” and update your card details as needed.
BetWright Withdrawal Methods
With your only option to deposit funds to BetWright being via debit card, it's not a huge shock that that's also the only way to get your money back out.
The stated timescale for withdrawal is bog-standard too with "3-5 working days" as the guideline. However, our withdrawal test saw our money hit our bank account within, literally, a couple of seconds. This makes it one of the fastest bookies we have tested.

BetWright Sportsbook
The BetWright sportsbook is underpinned by Playbook Gaming - which also operates StarSports among many others - and it provides a distinctly average offering. Football and Horse Racing take centre stage but its A-Z section offers up no fewer than 23 sport variations for punters with Aussie Rules, Hurling and Volleyball among the lesser followed sports available.
From a horse racing angle, the market coverage is good with the race cards stacked both in the UK and abroad. You can also watch the races you bet on in many cases too; that’s another big plus point.
It’s a similar story where the BetWright football offering is concerned as well. BetWright allows punters access to all the top leagues and many of the more left-field choices with the fact there are two tiers from South Korea available is a good example of that.
As for the actual markets, Premier League matches come with a depth of over 100 different markets. It also offers a bet builder function albeit with limited markets. That side of the football coverage is good; it’s not all positives though.
A significant negative of the football markets is the structure of the site. Rather than having a market sectioned off e.g. “Total Goals” with options within it, you have a spread of “Total Goals Over/Under 1.5 goals”, “Total Goals Over/Under 2.5 goals” and so on; this isn’t particularly user-friendly and makes navigation difficult.
The mediocrity continues with the betting margins at BetWright. It comes in at 6.91%. This is far from the worst margins you’ll find in the marketplace but far from the best either.

BetWright Casino
The BetWright casino is spread across three different sections – mini games, a live casino and the more traditional online casino offering. It’s arguably the strongest aspect of BetWright.
First and foremost, the layout of each component is clean and easy to navigate. Games are marketed in an easy-on-the-eye fashion whilst there are detailed explanations of each game within the help guides. This is good news for users, particularly new ones.
The live casino features four different types of games. Blackjack, Baccarat and Roulette all feature with plentiful choice of what table you’d like to join whilst there is also a “gameshow” section that includes titles such as “Vegas Ball Bonanza” and “Football Blitz Top Card”.
The mainstream casino is loaded with game choice. You’ll find slot games, megaways and table games galore from three separate studios – Blueprint, LEAP and Pragmatic. There are big titles available too with “King Kong Cashpots” and “Sugar Rush” just a couple of examples. “Spaceman”, which is powered by Pragmatic, is the current flavour of the month.
We’d argue the casino mini games are a tad unnecessary. They’re clean and tidy but do they really need to be accessed from the sportsbook to then allow bettors to play instant win casino games with the sportsbook in the background? We’re not sure.
BetWright Mobile App
BetWright label themselves as “forward-thinking” but failing to provide a mobile app in the modern world of online gambling feels very outdated. Admittedly, you can access it on the go through its mobile-friendly website. However, failure to have an app does immediately give it one fewer ticks in the box compared to most of its competition.
In BetWright’s defence, it is newly launched so it’s quite possible an app will arrive in the future but, based on our questioning of its support team, this isn’t an imminent addition.
BetWright Responsible Gambling
You get an instant nod to BetWright’s responsible gambling approach when signing up. Part of the sign-up process prompts you to set deposit limits, configure reality check time reminders and more.
You are not forced to take these steps during the registration though. At any point, you can head to your account and access the “Limits & Responsible Gambling” section. The tools available to you here include:

The one criticism we have of the support documentation is that it is something you have to go hunting for rather than being made immediately accessible to users.
BetWright Customer Support
BetWright is a company that promises “great customer service”. We can’t vouch for the level of service in great detail but the methods of communication it offers as an online bookmaker is rank average – at best – and, in truth, probably not even quite there.
The site offers a light-touch FAQ section that may answer some very simple questions whilst a live chat function, which proved a successful method of contact during our testing, is also available for punters. Importantly, the chat is only open during office hours with all other queries directed through to an email address.
With a limited social media presence and the absence of a phone number, it’s hard to give BetWright a glowing review where their customer support is concerned.
