Who Owns BetMGM?
BetMGM is owned by the powerful MGM Resorts International and was launched in conjunction with another gambling giant, Entain, in 2017. However, the betting site first entered the UK scene in the summer of 2023 as it partnered up with another MGM-owned bookie, LeoVegas. As a result, the site has a very familiar look for most UK punters.
Naturally, this partnership also means that BetMGM has a few out-and-out sister sites, with BetUK being another. As said, this is probably something that most punters have noticed already as the design is identical across these three sites. They do differ on some fronts, though, and that is what we will take a look at next.
BetMGM Sister Sites Reviewed
Below, we review each of BetMGM's sister sites and as they are fundamentally the same product, we focus on the differences between the two.
BetUK
BetUK has been in the gambling game for over ten years but it was first acquired by LeoVegas in 2018. As such, some might still consider it a new betting site in the UK even if the brand has been around for quite some time. The sportsbook is very comprehensive and just like BetMGM, there is a generous welcome offer to claim.
Indeed, those who sign up on the site can claim £30 in free bets and there are no wagering requirements involved. The list of payment methods is good, with Apple Pay accepted, and there is also PayPal support. In fairness, those looking to claim the welcome offer would not have used an e-wallet anyway.
Overall, BetUK is well worth a go not just because of the welcome offer, but also thanks to the strong sportsbook and casino. There are also quite a few promotions for existing customers that might come in handy. It should be noted that no BetUK promo codes are required for the offers.
LeoVegas
Since LeoVegas provides the sportsbook and casino services for BetMGM, one could perhaps expect the bookmaker to be the best. However, while the products offered are indeed very good, LeoVegas lacks the flair that BetMGM and BetUK have focused a lot on, above all due to the weak welcome offer.
There is no bet x get x deal in place, which is the most common welcome offer, instead punters can get their in-play bet boosted by up to £100. It is not a terrible deal by any means as some money can still be made, but we can guarantee that LeoVegas would be a lot more popular among sports punters with a better one.
At the very least, LeoVegas is one of the bookmakers that accept PayPal and Instant Banking is also available, unlike at BetUK. Customers can download a very solid betting app as well and on this front, LeoVegas beats its sisters. As we covered in our review, the BetMGM app has many flaws and that is far from ideal.
Our Favourite BetMGM Sister Site: LeoVegas
One could argue that BetUK is the better choice, given the welcome offer, but we like to focus on longevity and it is clear that LeoVegas prevails in that sense. The bookmaker has been around for a long time and there is a certain security, while the customer support is also very good. The fact there is a good app to download cannot be overstated either.
Still, we cannot help but think that LeoVegas would have been a lot more popular with another welcome offer. Even a less generous deal such as bet £10 get £20 would have been enough to attract a lot more customers, in our opinion.
