Every top UK bookmaker offers goalscorer odds for competitions like the Championship, and betting on the first goalscorer has become an increasingly popular market among punters. This is why Bet365 has introduced an 'each-way' option when betting on this market.

The term 'each-way' will be most known by horse racing fans. When betting on a horse to win, you can use the each-way market, which means your bet will still be paid out if it finishes within a certain amount of places.

However, when betting on the each-way first goalscorer market, there are unlimited places offered. This means that if you bet on a player to be the first goalscorer and they score the, hypothetically speaking, fifth and final goal of the game, you are still paid out albeit at 1/3 of your price.

So, if you placed a £10 bet each-way on Harry Kane to be the first goalscorer in a Bundesliga game at odds of 10/1, the bet would be split in this way: £5 on him scoring first and £5 on the places. If Kane scores first, you get the £55 (£50 for the bet winning plus initial stake) for him scoring first, and you also get paid out for the place bet (£16.50).

In the case that Kane scores a goal, but it is not the first then you will only get paid for the place bet. So why have Bet365 began offering an each-way market on first goalscorers? Betting on certain players to score can be quite lucrative, but betting on a player to be the first goalscorer in the game can offer even better odds.

For example, a player could be 7/5 to score anytime, but then 7/2 to score first. Meaning that, at the correct odds, this can be a fantastic market to utilise, especially if done each-way.
