Yankee Bet Explained

Those who have placed bets on a betting site before might be familiar with the term Yankee Bet, but knowing how it actually works is a different story. A Yankee Bet consists of four selections, similarly to a Lucky 15 bet, but it differs from there on as these selections are spread out over 11 different parts:

  • 6 doubles
  • 4 trebles
  • 1 four-fold accumulator.

As there are no single bets in a Yankee, you will need two or more winning selections to guarantee a return from this wager. However, it may not be more than your initial stake depending on the odds of your selections.

Remember, a Yankee bet will cost 11x your stake, as you are placing 11 different bets. For example, a £1 Yankee bet will cost £11 in total. Use this free Yankee bet calculator to work out your returns.

Yankee bets are available on almost all UK betting sites and are mostly used on popular horse racing betting sites. However, you can also place Yankee bets on football, ice hockey, and most other sports. Also, you can place win-only or each-way Yankee bets for racing events.

How to Place a Yankee Bet

To place a Yankee bet, first head over to your preferred bookmaker, and our top ten list for football punters can perhaps be of guidance. You will then need to pick four selections from different events and enter your stake in the 'Yankee bet' section on your bet slip.

Unibet yankee bet

As you can see in the image above, there are four selections in the bet slip on Unibet and in the 'Multiples' section, the Yankee Bet is an option. £10 has been added as the stake and given that Yankee Bets consist of 11 different parts, the total cost of the bet is £110. This will be too steep for most, so it is worth starting with a smaller stake (£1 is very common for this bet).

You might wonder how a Yankee Bet bet actually works in practice, so we have put together an example below. It is based on four teams to win separate games and it looks as follows:

  • 4 Singles

    Team A to win

    Team B to win

    Team C to win

    Team D to win

  • 6 Doubles

    Team A + Team B to win

    Team A + Team C to win

    Team A + Team D to win

    Team B + Team C to win

    Team B + Team D to win

    Team C + Team D to win

  • 1 Four-Fold Accumulator

    Team A + Team B + Team C + Team D to win
