What is a Trixie Bet?

A Trixie bet is a type of system betting method that consists of four bets on three different selections combined into one. The four bets comprised three doubles and one treble, and players must choose three sections (from other events) to place a Trixie bet.

Trixie bets are primarily available on the best horse racing sites and also for greyhound betting. However, some of the leading betting sites offer this method across several sports, including football.

Also, with traditional accumulators, you need every bet to win to land your bet. But, a Trixie bet can offer a return if only one selection fails to win.

The winnings are calculated on three winning double bets and one treble, and you can work out your return using this free Trixie bet calculator. Trixie bets can be a great way to hedge your bets in case one of your selections does not win and can offer high returns if they all land.

How Trixie Betting Works for Different Sports

As we explained above, Trixie betting is a type of wager that involves making three selections in different events. It consists of four bets: three doubles and one treble bet. To understand how it works, we have created three examples of popular sports, including horse racing, football and cricket.

Horse Racing Trixie Bet

Selections

  • Horse A in Race 1
  • Horse B in Race 2
  • Horse C in Race 3

Bets

  • Double 1: Horse A and Horse B both to win
  • Double 2: Horse A and Horse C both to win
  • Double 3: Horse B and Horse C both to win
  • Treble: Horse A, Horse B, and Horse C all to win

The qualifying double bets payout if at least two horses win their races. If all three horses win, all four bets pay.

Football Trixie Bet

Selections

  • Team X to win in Match 1
  • Team Y to win in Match 2
  • Team Z to win in Match 3

Bets

  • Double 1: Team X and Team Y both to win
  • Double 2: Team X and Team Z both to win
  • Double 3: Team Y and Team Z both to win
  • Treble: Team X, Team Y, and Team Z all to win

The matching double bet pays out if at least two teams win their matches. If all three teams win, the treble and doubles payout.
