Internet personality and all-round 'Guvna' Tom Skinner may have fired the starting pistol in the race to be the next Mayor of London. From his jaunty videos broadcasting from Deano's 'Caf' on social media to the socio-economic fabric of the city, his recent comments can't be ignored.

Skinner first fell into the public gaze after he appeared as a contestant on series 15 of The Apprentice. He has managed to capitalise on what usually would've been fleeting fame, amassing over 370,000 followers on X.
Speaking of X, on the 9th of June, Skinner wrote chapter and verse on his love of what he called 'Old London'. He also wrote of his sadness at what London 'had become' calling it 'more hostile' and 'cold'.
This was then retweeted by former chief advisor to Boris Johnson, Dominic Cummings. In his retweet, he offered his support to Skinner, going on to promise that they would 'crush [Sadiq] Khan'.
At this time, however, bookies appear not to be taking these claims too seriously, with most not listing Skinner even as an outsider until he has made his political intentions clear.
Further up the list are some more familiar names in political circles, such as the favourite, the current Mayor of London Sadiq Khan. Khan is then followed by the likes of former Conservative and Cabinet ministers James Cleverly and Penny Mordaunt whose odds sit at 8/1 and 12/1 with Coral respectively.
Some more left-of-centre names that are suspected to be making a bid for Mayor would be 'SAS: Who Dares Wins' star Ant Middleton, whose odds currently sit at 12/1 with William Hill.
This is set to be a tight, hard-fought mayoral contest. It is certain that whoever comes out victorious has a difficult job to do with reuniting a city of over 8 million people.
