Well, now that the 2024/25 season is finished, it is probably a good time to revisit our picks from the previews to see how good or how bad we did. Of course, hindsight is a beautiful thing, but do our Betting Lounge experts have much foresight?

We will link our initial previews to each section, but let's take a look at how we did right and wrong.

Ben's Premier League Picks

So, we start with the Premier League, and let's look at Ben's predictions for the 2024/25 season.

  • Manchester City (6/4) ❌ or Arsenal (15/8) to Win the Premier League ❌
  • Manchester United (2/1) ❌, Liverpool (4/7) ✅ and Tottenham (9/4) to finish Top 4 ❌
  • Leicester City (4/9) ✅, Ipswich Town (10/11) ✅, Southampton (5/4) ✅, Nottingham Forest (11/4) ❌ or Everton (11/4) ❌ to get relegated
  • Crystal Palace to get Top Half (7/5) ❌

Correct Picks: 4/10

It was not the worst set of picks from Ben, though tipping five teams to go down certainly did not help him! Barring that, the relegation picture looks quite solid (forgetting the look at Nottingham Forest).

At the top end of the division, it was much of the same, with only Liverpool providing a winning selection. Like we say, hindsight is great! The Crystal Palace pick was quite nice, but their FA Cup win does not help us, unfortunately.

Ben's Championship Picks

Now we move on to the Championship, and there are certainly a few questionable picks here from Ben!

  • Luton Town (12/1) ❌ or Leeds United (7/2) ✅ to Win the Championship
  • Middlesbrough (7/2) ❌, Coventry City (9/2) ❌, West Brom (11/2) ❌, Norwich (11/2) ❌, Sheffield United (5/1) ❌ or Burnley (2/1) ✅ to Win Promotion
  • Portsmouth (11/2) ❌, Derby County (5/1) ❌, Blackburn Rovers (7/2) ❌, Oxford United (6/4) ❌, or Plymouth Argyle (9/4) ✅ to be relegated.

Correct Picks: 3/13

Really not the best from Ben here, but still some nice picks at some good prices. The Luton shout stands out as a bit of a rotter, especially. In fact, it might be the worst selection from the entire predictions!

Nevertheless, a lot of the promoted sides were involved in the play-off scene, so maybe that is a section to revisit next season...

Ben's League One Picks

Sticking in England, we're moving to League One, and there are a few interesting picks there.

  • Birmingham City (2/1) ✅, Bolton Wanderers (10/1 E/W) ❌ or Huddersfield Town (12/1 E/W) ❌ to win League One
  • Huddersfield Town (15/4) ❌, Bolton Wanderers (3/1) ❌, Wigan Athletic (7/1) ❌, Lincoln City (8/1) ❌ or Charlton Athletic (5/1) ✅ to get promoted
  • Crawley Town (8/13) ✅, Shrewsbury Town (6/5) ✅ and Cambridge United (11/8) ✅, or Northampton Town (7/4) ❌ to be relegated

Correct Picks: 5/12

The best set of picks so far, and to Ben's credit, he did say that he struggled to see anything but Birmingham winning the league. So, maybe we can classify the each way shouts as half of a prediction.

Also, he almost got the full relegation picture spot on, getting three of four right. Not too shabby, indeed.

Ben's La Liga Picks

Moving into Europe, we have Ben's picks for the Spanish top flight, and there are some interesting picks here, too.

  • Real Madrid (4/9) ❌, Barcelona (7/2) ✅, or Atletico Madrid (12/1 E/W) ✅ to win La Liga
  • Barcelona (1/4) ✅, Atletico Madrid (3/5) ✅, Athletico Bilbao (15/8) ✅ or Real Sociedad (15/8) ❌ to finish Top 4
  • Leganes (11/8) ✅, Las Palmas (11/8) ✅, Real Valladolid (15/8) ✅ or Espanyol (5/2) ❌ to get relegated

Correct Picks: 8/11

By far the best set of picks from Ben as he returned significantly here with his La Liga picks, and here we're going to claim (for his sake) that the E/W shout counts as a full point! Picking all three sides to go down, despite tipping four, is also rather nice!

Isak's Serie A Picks

We're going to sandwich Ben's European picks with some from another of our experts, this time Isak, who delivered our Serie A preview.

  • AC Milan (7/1) ❌ or Inter (7/10) ❌ to win Serie A
  • Atalanta (13/8) ✅, AC Milan (4/9) ❌ or Juventus (1/3) ✅ to finish Top 4
  • Lecce (10/3) ❌, Empoli (10/11) ✅ or Cagliari (6/5) ❌ to get relegated

Correct Picks: 3/8

Certainly not a bad strike rate from Isak, and it could have been much nicer for him! In fact, both the title and Lecce's safety were decided on the final day. Had the two been on the right side of luck (at least from a tip perspective), then 5/8 would've been delivered.

Nevertheless, 3/8 is certainly not terrible from him, and he will surely be taking that!

Ben's Bundesliga Picks

Returning to Ben's picks here, we head to Germany, where we look at the Bundesliga.

  • Bayern Munich (1/2) ✅ or Bayer Leverksuen (11/4) ❌ to Win the Bundesliga
  • Borussia Dortmund (1/2) ✅, RB Leipzig (8/13) ❌ or VFB Stuttgart (9/4) ❌ to finish Top 4
  • Bochum (5/2) ✅, Holstein Kiel (11/10) ✅, St Pauli (7/4) ❌ or Augsburg (3/1) to be relegated

Correct Picks: 4/9

Not terrible again here from Ben, with another four correct and just being shy of 50%. However, you can certainly contest the inclusions of Bayern Munich and Dortmund, given that both are at quite low prices.

Nevertheless, Bochum and Holstein Kiel stand out as nice selections above evens. Our expert certainly will not be complaining there!

Ben's Champions League Picks

We're not going to go through the Champions League in the same depth really, as it is not as comparable. However, we still saw some nice returns from Ben here.

  • Inter to Finish Top 8 (7/4)
  • Atletico Madrid to Finish Top 8 (7/5)
  • Robert Lewandowski to be Top Goalscorer (16/1 E/W)
  • Lautaro Martinez to be Top Goalscorer (50/1 E/W)

Again, some really nice value picked up here, especially with the top goalscorer markets, and depending on who you staked with, how many places were paid out.
