There's been a bit of a manager merry-go-round, and Wycombe have been left with the short straw as Matt Bloomfield has become the new Luton head coach. So, who will replace him for the Chairboys?
Below are the latest betting odds for Wycombe's next permanent manager at the time of this post.
Football can often be a horribly cruel game, and this is very much the case for Wycombe Wanderers. The Chairboys have been fantastic so far in League One this season, and they are well in the promotion race.
As a result of this though, interest in their players has risen, and now, their manager has been poached by Luton Town after Rob Edwards was sacked. Who was the head coach selected? Wycombe's overperforming Matt Bloomfield.
This now leaves Wycombe looking a little bare, and as I stated in my latest Odds Watch for League One, I'd be wary about the second half of their season. However, with some of the names linked to the vacant job, perhaps they could still be in the picture.
There is one clear favourite for the Wycombe job as things stand, but it is still worth taking a look at the top candidates as things have been known to change quickly before.
At the time of writing this, there has been a new name thrown, or should I say rocketed, into the market - Claus Norgaard. Rumours about his involvement in the position began on Monday, Jan 13, and at midday of Jan 14, he has shot into the favourite.
The Danish coach could be a superb option, given that he has worked at Brentford, who have a similar but massively advanced focus on data like Wycombe Wanderers. Additionally, he would probably not have to relocate, which could be a big factor.
The 45-year-old is the assistant head coach to Thomas Frank and it is possible that he looks to make his own steps into management with the Wycombe job.

Buckingham, if Wycombe were to land him, would be a fantastic appointment. With Oxford, he is heralded as a great of the club, and his impact cannot be understated. In fact, they are in the Championship, arguably, solely because of his managerial qualities.
Comparisons could definitely be drawn between the two clubs, and it could be a really nice fit. Since his departure from Oxford, he has rarely been linked with jobs of the same level, so perhaps a drop back to League One could be where his future lies.
His price of 4/1 is certainly intriguing, but I feel there could be some slightly better options, for us as punters and Wycombe.

For me, this is a really outlandish shout, and I can't understand the pricing. Martin most recently managed in the Premier League, before that, he was at Swansea. For him to drop back into League One in the same season that he was a top-division coach makes no sense for me.
Hypothetically speaking, if he were to drop into the third tier, I'd be unsure about how well he would be able to do. For me, it's a move that makes no sense, and I'd steer well clear of the 8/1 odds.

There is not really much value elsewhere in the market. Steven Schumacher and Rob Edwards are the fourth and fifth favourites for the job, but both odds are drifting at present. If either were to be appointed, it would certainly be a huge confidence boost.
Aside from that, nothing sticks out for us at present.

As of January 14, Wycombe are best-priced at 5/6 to be promoted to the Championship in the 2024-25 season. The appointment must be right, if it isn't I can only see the Chairboys sliding, especially with others strengthening.
