Read our expert insights, predictions and tips for the 2025/26 EFL League Two season as we look at odds for the winner, promotion, relegation and the top goalscorer, as well as a 1-24.
After a decent go at the predictions last season, we are back with this season's predictions for the upcoming League Two season. I have also signed up to stick my neck out a little more with a 1-24, so stay tuned for that.
Before we get into it, I will start (and repeat throughout) that League Two is a really tough task this season to predict, but I'm going to do my best anyway. I have reviewed the statistics, teams, and transfers, and I think I've compiled a decent list of odds.
League Two is notoriously difficult to predict, as last season showed, but here we go.
I think picking a league winner in League Two this season may be one of the easier tasks for us here. In fact, most people would agree about who will be crowned champions at the end of the season, at the time of writing.
That, of course, would be MK Dons, who have had a fantastic summer so far. Some big moves have been made for players who could probably do work in League One, such as Will Collar and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing.
However, the biggest statement of intent is the signing of Aaron Collins - though I do not want to speak about him too much here, as we'll get onto him later.
After a dismal year last season, there has been a need to invest, and this has also been the case off the pitch, where the management have brought in Paul Warne, who has a fantastic record in League One at promoting teams.
With a fantastic budget and squad, doing this task in the league below should not be a worry for this side. In fact, I think the current price is actually somewhat generous, and it may be worth taking a go at.
Following them, I also really like the look of Chesterfield's chances this season. After a seventh-place finish last season, fans of the Spireites are hopeful that the upward trajectory can continue.
After winning the National League title, by a substantial margin for what it's worth, the side recorded a seventh-place finish in their first season in the fourth division, which is an incredible feat.
This summer, they have continued to strengthen, adding Dilan Markanday, Ryan Stirk and Northern Irish centre-forward Lee Bonis to an already strong squad, without losing any significant talent.
Seeing them in and around the promotion area would not be a shock, and if they were to challenge for the league title, not many would be too surprised.

With the way that League Two works, I've picked out quite a few sides for promotion; however, with some bookmakers offering 'Top Seven' markets, you may be better suited to betting on these, rather than promotion. Largely, as the odds are not too bad at all.
To start things off, I'm going with Bristol Rovers, who were relegated from League One Last season. The Bristolian outfit were terrible for large parts of the season, but this summer has offered them a chance to reset.
A lot of the dead wood has been shifted, and there have been some ambitious signings made from leagues above them. Josh McEachran still has gas in the tank, if you'll pardon the pun, whilst Darrell Clarke's return is a big motivator moving forward.
Work has needed to be done, and they have. So, they should be around the top parts of the division.
Following them, I'm liking the look of Grimsby Town, who could have a solid chance at promotion this season. Again, they have been on an upward trajectory in the past few years since their promotion from the National League.
This summer, they have kept hold of a lot of their better players from last season, whilst also adding quality across the board. Smart signings have been made from the National League, whilst they could also do a lot worse than Christy Pym and Jayden Sweeney. Contenders, again, I feel.
Similar to Grimsby, I am also rather intrigued by Colchester United's chances. On paper, quite an average side last season, highlighted by their 19 draws in the 2024/25 campaign. However, if they start better this time around, they could well be up there.
From the start of November to the middle of March, the side only lost two League Two games, proving that the Cowley brothers are still excellent coaches. In their third season with the club, they can advance further, and it would be no shock if they were around the play-offs again after finishing 10th last year.
Another team whose chances are piquing my interest is Fleetwood Town. Pete Wild's side have a serious amount of potential this season. However, they need to find a bit more consistency, which was the problem with their last campaign.
A very mixed bag, Wild will be hoping that his side can put together a run, which they failed to do in the second half of the season (when he took over). If they do, they really could be a serious threat to the play-off mix.
Potentially a rogue shout, but I also really like the look of Gillingham, who, despite finishing 17th last season, finished the year really well and could carry that momentum into this new season. Of course, the summer can change things, but they picked up some impressive form towards the back end of the campaign.
Powered by the likes of Bradley Dack, Armani Little and Robbie McKenzie, the Gills look to be solid enough from there already. However, new head coach Gareth Ainsworth, who conducted the improvement last season, should have them competing near the top.

With the top end of the table looked at, now we need to look at the bottom side of the division, and there are two standouts for me.
With there only being two spots for relegation in League Two, things are certainly a little different. However, I think that a few teams could be in serious danger from the off, and it is due to the quality coming into the league.
My first pick is Harrogate Town, who have operated on a really small budget for years now, and this season is no different. Signings made have not been the most exciting, whilst the outgoings do not fill me with much confidence either.
Another strong set of candidates from the National League came up, and this could be a real slog of a season for Harrogate if they are not careful. It is no surprise that they are one of the favourites for the drop.
Following them, I have also gone for Accrington Stanley to succumb to the drop. Accy were a comfortable eight points away from relegation last season, but the two relegated sides were real strugglers.
Perhaps last season, they got a bit lucky with things, and I don't think that same fate will be afforded to them this season. Again, it looks like it will be a very difficult season for them this year.

Aaron Collins. Done.
MK Dons are the clear favourites to win the league, and having the firepower to spend £800,000 on a striker is a testament to why they are. It is not just any striker, though. Collins is a phenomenal buy for League Two.
The striker bagged 12 goals in League One last season, 12 goals in the season before in the same league and then 16 in the two before then. He is a proven goalscorer and will light the league up surrounded by the quality of his new side.
If anything, I'm surprised he has not gone to a League One club, where he'd again bag for fun. At 6/1, he seems a great price for us here.
Aaron Collins to be the Top Scorer in League Two - 11/2
I am also going to pick out two bets of value that I think are nicely priced for us in League Two, and they are both offered on Bet365 and QuinnBet.
Firstly, I love the price for Salford City to be the top club from the North West this season. They should be around the play-off picture, and this alone makes the 5/2 price really stand out for me, a market that is massively overpriced in my view.
Chesterfield to be the top Midlands team, too, is screaming out to me. I cannot see much competition for them in the league, let alone the Midlands, so I think at above evens, this is a phenomenal price. One that I am all over at 11/8.
For a little bit of fun, I have also tried to put together my 1-24, which can be seen below. A difficult task indeed, but let's give it a go!
