Birmingham City were widely expected to win League One this season and after a dominant victory against Huddersfield Town, they already have one hand on the title.

Destiny Awaiting Birmingham

Many Birmingham City fans had expected them to win the division this season, and from an outside perspective, it was a well-backed claim. The Blues have been phenomenal this season, and the title has looked increasingly likely.

However, things could have changed with Wrexham and Huddersfield standing before them in recent weeks. Two losses and maybe there was a chance for things to differ, but this wasn't the case.

Birmingham held the Welsh side to a draw, whilst their class was shown against Huddersfield last night through a beautiful strike from Keshi Anderson.

There is a two-point gap over Wycombe, which I think would be maintained if not extended anyway. However, the Blues have two games in hand, meaning that the gap could (and probably will) extend to eight points.

The title was seemingly destined for Birmingham, and now it's almost there, despite the fact that there are 20 games left to play.

Wycombe Separating From the Pack

Wycombe have been really, really good this season and if they can fight off the hunger from Luton Town for Richard Kone, they look a solid bet for promotion.

Once again, the Chairboys won on Tuesday night, overcoming a strong Barnsley side through a last-minute goal after going behind early in the game. In the grand scheme of things, it is a huge result.

Many, including me to an extent, had written them off slightly at the start of the month, but they are proving that they are not done yet. My only concern that remains is that they are still manager-less, so this is something they have to get right.

Wrexham follow in third, but things have slowed slightly in the past few weeks.

A 3-2 defeat against Stevenage at home is the first in 22 games for the side, which is a huge blow to their automatic promotion hopes. They are now six points away from Wycombe but still hold a points advantage over Huddersfield.

The Terriers are a really mixed bag, that has to be said. Despite high hopes at the start of the season, there have been regular performance fluctuations, and the past few games have shown that again.

Defeats to Bolton and Birmingham have deflated the fanbase massively and frustrations were very high after the game on Tuesday night.

Hopes of automatics now look slim with a 10-point gap in place to Wycombe, albeit with a game in hand, and it's a case of looking below rather than above it seems.

It's then worth giving mentions to Stockport, Leyton Orient and Bolton. Stockport have seemed revitalised since the Christmas period and with three wins on the bounce they are a team of interest.

Leyton Orient are on a fantastic run of games at the moment, winning their last two and being unbeaten in almost two months.

Then Bolton are also looking really strong. I delved into their situation more in the managerial odds piece, but they are looking very strong since Ian Evatt's departure and are worth keeping an eye on.

Shrews Fall Away With Relegation Battle Heating Up

At the bottom of the table, things are equally as exciting. The four relegation places are still open to a degree and the teams above them are not kicking up any trees.

In our last odds watch, we stated that Shrewsbury may be able to get themselves slightly away. However, with two losses on the bounce they have found themselves at the bottom of the table and the bookies have them favourites to go down.

Cambridge then follow in 23rd after another defeat, this time to Rotherham, who have not been anywhere near as good as people expected this season. The U's went ahead on Tuesday night, but failed to see the game through.

Things are much more positive for Crawley, who have got themselves three points clear of the bottom two with a win against Mansfield. They are now just three points away from safety, so there could be a chance for them to avoid the drop.

Burton also have hit a fine run of form, winning their last three games on the bounce, and they are putting together quite a nice bid for safety. However, they also are three points away from Northampton.

Bristol Rovers and the Cobblers sit in the two places above the drop zone, so they need to be careful with there only being a few points between the sides now.
