Florian Wirtz Next Club Odds

Generally what happens in Germany when an exciting talent or top player emerges, either he’s already in the Bayern Munich system or they swoop in and sign them knowing they have an enormous pull over pretty much any player in the Bundesliga; that is especially true of Wirtz, who is a German international.

Wirtz and his teammates shocked everyone last year breaking Bayern’s dominance, but normal order has been restored this year with Vincent Kompany guiding the Bavarians to the league title in his first season as manager.

In reality though, Bayern winning league titles is something they take for granted. The measurement of Kompany though, will be whether they can clean up for years to come and, ultimately, take the step to consistently reach the Champions League.

Wirtz would help with strengthening Bayern’s case on both of those fronts. If the player wants to stay in his homeland, then it will be with Bayern. With plenty of interest elsewhere though, an even money offering might not be a value wager.

Man City are ranked as second favourites to bag Wirtz’s signature at a price of 3/1. They have long been mentioned in connection with the 22-year-old as they enter what is a pivotal summer for the club after a mediocre campaign this time out, and getting hold of a new playmaker is probably their number one priority too, with Kevin De Bruyne’s exit already confirmed.

There are a couple of huge question marks hanging over Man City though. Firstly, the undeniable pull of Pep Guardiola isn’t as strong as it would have been given he will only be with the club for another 12 months whilst there is also the small matter of 115 charges to be settled as well.

Clearly, those factors haven’t hampered their ability to do business – as evidenced by their January moves – but Wirtz is not going to be short of offers. Will he see a move to the Etihad as a gamble?

Arne Slot has just delivered Liverpool the Premier League title at an absolute canter with his team looking like a well-structured machine that still have a gear or two to step up into. On two fronts, the fact the Reds done such little business last summer is important.

Firstly, it proves Slot’s ability as an actual coach whilst also making you ponder just how good his team will be when he starts getting his own players through the door.

Secondly, the lack of business over the last year means they have the financial clout to go head-to-head with pretty much anyone over the coming months.

From a tactical fit, any conversation with Wirtz will likely be easy. Despite the strong showing Liverpool have given this season, their engine room is an area where they could look to upgrade, and whilst not operating in the same position as Wirtz, they are losing a technically gifted footballer from their squad with Trent Alexander-Arnold heading to Real Madrid.

When Real Madrid come calling, you don’t say no. That’s at least been the general consensus of fans where Alexander-Arnold’s move to Spain has been concerned. Will Wirtz be equally as powerless to resist their admiring glances should interest be firmed up? At 16/1, we’d suggest there is certainly value to be pondered.

For starters, it looks nailed on that Wirtz’s current coach, Alonso, will be in the Bernabeu dugout next season. That will be a huge appeal to Wirtz, whilst the history and ambitions of the club need no comment.

From a Real Madrid perspective, Wirtz’s compatriot, Toni Kroos, has left a mammoth hole in their midfield this season, with many citing that as their major problem this season.

Whilst Wirtz plays higher up than Kroos, and therefore not a direct replacement, he would certainly strengthen Real’s options in midfield and help to get the best out of the vast attacking options the Spanish giants have.

They might need to allow a big-name player to leave first though, with Rodrygo perhaps the most likely to make way.
