Fierce fanbases aren’t limited to sports individual players, performers and musicians can also inspire equally intense and loyal followings. Methodology

We created a seeding list of celebrities we used IMDb, Billboard, Spotify, and Chartmasters, with the aim of getting at least 25 actors/actresses and 25 artists. To get our list of Athletes, we used Boardroom, Give Me Sport, and Ranker, as well as a few stars who broke out in 2024.

We then used Instagram to get the number of followers and posts with the hashtag “#[NAME]fanart.” This data is accurate as of February 6th. We then used Phlanx to get the average number of likes per post for each person. We then used this to calculate each person’s followers-to-likes ratio. We then used a weighted table to get a normalised score out of 10 for each Instagram factor. We then took an average of these scores to get an overall Instagram fan base score.

We then used X to get the number of followers for each person. We then used Phlanx to get the average number of likes per account. For Jennifer Lopez and SZA, we used Mention to get the average number of likes. Joey King and Shohei Ohtani did not have any tweets. We then calculated the person’s followers-to-likes ratio. This data is accurate as of February 7th. We then used a weighted table to get a normalised score out of 10 for each TikTok factor. We then took an average of these scores to get an overall TikTok fan base score.

We used TikTok to get the number of followers for each account. We also used TikTok to get the number of posts with the hashtag ‘#[NAME]edit”. We then used Phlanx to get the average likes per post for each account. For Bad Bunny, Kaya Scodelario, and Katie Ledecky, we used Insight IQ. We also manually calculated the average likes per video for Mookie Betts, who only had two TikTok posts. Using this, we calculated the person’s followers-to-likes ratio. This data is accurate as of February 9th. We then used a weighted table to get a normalised score out of 10 for each TikTok factor. We then took an average of these scores to get an overall TikTok fan base score.

We used Google Search data to find the number of searches on Google across the world over the last 12 months (February 2023 and January 2024). We also used Google to get the number of global searches over the last 12 months for the term “[NAME] merchandise”.

We then used a weighted table again to get an overall fan base score using the social media and Google fan base scores.
