Liam Manning, after a successful season at Bristol City, was poached by Norwich City. Now, the Robins are looking for a new head coach and a clear favourite is already in place from the bookmakers.
Below are the latest betting odds for Bristol City's next permanent manager at the time of this post.
Bristol City had a phenomenal season under Liam Manning's guidance. However, with the play-offs proving too much for the Robins, they have been forced to play another season in the Championship.
With their overachievement, many clubs took an interest in Manning, and fellow Championship side Norwich were successful in their pursuit of the head coach. In fact, the club stated that they were 'disappointed to lose the coach after such a successful season', leading you to question if they had spoken about the future after.
Nevertheless, there is no time to ponder over what could have been. So, the club are already seeking a replacement, with a few names linked.
The market for the next Bristol City boss is quite short currently, with a clear favourite leading the list of candidates.
It is no surprise to see Rob Edwards linked with a top-end Championship job, especially after his work with Luton Town. Regardless of what happened this season, with their relegation to League One, he is still a very good coach with a role in the second division waiting for him, in my eyes.
Bristol seems like a perfect fit for him as once again, he can build on the pre-existing foundations, as he did with Luton. This is not a team that needs loads of work, so a few smart signings this summer could have them in a similar position next year.
There have already been reports suggesting that he had been waiting for the job to come available, so it is not a surprise that he is such a heavy favourite.

Having been sacked from his job at Hull City last month, seeing Ruben Selles linked with another forward-thinking club in Bristol City is understandable. Especially with him being heavily praised during his time with Hull and Reading, before that.
There is a very good coach in the Portuguese, and it would not surprise me if the Robins are considering a move, given his overachievements with Reading. He also would fit what the Bristolian outfit needs, or more likely, is looking for.
It certainly would not be a bad move for all parties, but I'd certainly question if he is the first choice.

Gary O'Neil's inclusion here is certainly rather interesting, considering he has been linked to several Championship clubs in the past few months. Since leaving Wolves, he has been out of work, and you would imagine that would come to an end this summer.
Having spent two years at the club previously as a player, he is familiar with what is expected of the players, at least from the fans. So, it is no surprise to see him linked. You would also expect that his wages would not be outrageous.

John Mousinho is also listed on the market at 6/1, and whilst he is a very good manager who would be up City's street, I can't see him leaving Portsmouth just yet, so the price feels a tad low. It would be a good appointment, though.
Jack Wilshere, Richie Wellens and Steve Cooper all come in at 12/1, with the first name of that trio the most interesting, and I feel plausible. However, the inclusion of Marti Cifuentes at that price is also an intrigue, especially with his situation at QPR not fully resolved.
