Nkunku's Next Club: Where Could He Go?

Reports in recent weeks have suggested that Chelsea are looking to move on from Nkunku after the experiment has not worked out for either party. So, the Frenchman will be available this summer for as little as £40 million.

It is, of course, a big fee for someone who has not delivered in recent years. However, you would have to say that his opportunities have been limited in a Blues team which has often been rather complex.

So, let's take a look at the possibilities.

Liverpool - 7/4

The most popular option at present in a move to Liverpool, which the market have as the favourite option at 7/4, and it certainly makes sense why this is the case.

Arne Slot has been unable to put his own stamp on this team, and there are several players across the frontline whose futures are currently being questioned - for example, Darwin Nunez and Federico Chiesa have both been linked with moves away.

Nkunku, then, could provide a decent option for the frontline, considering he is experienced in a range of roles - though his best came in the No.10 position for RB Leipzig.

Newcastle United - 4/1

Considering Newcastle will receive offers for Alexander Isak this summer, it is no surprise to see them being linked with a forward. And a signing like Nkunku is certainly a good place to start.

Obviously the past few years have been disappointing for the Frenchman, and largely filled with injuries. However, this is someone who once got 33 contributions in the Bundesliga and 20 in the season after, so he definitely has the quality.

Whether he would be an apt replacement for Isak though, well that's easy to answer.

Chelsea - 6/1

Staying at Chelsea is seemingly still an option for the Frenchman. Whilst it seems both parties will be open to a move, there are certain things that will need to be met.

A £40 million price tag is certainly not awful in the current market, but for a player who has scored eight Premier League goals in almost 40 appearances, it will certainly be questioned.

Additionally, he is probably on a very nice contract in London, which others may struggle to match.

The Options Elsewhere

There are some very nice options elsewhere I feel, and Bayern Munich are as low as 4/1 on Bet365, however, the Entain bookmakers have the price of 8/1 available, which seems massively generous.

A return to Germany may be the most likely, and Bayer Leverkusen could also be an interesting price at 10/1, especially if Florian Wirtz departs this summer.

Should you bet on this market?

I think there are a few nice options in this market, definitely, and I am looking at the Bundesliga options especially, given the Frenchman's best football came here.

Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen should both have no problems matching the price tag that Chelsea have set, and their prices both stand out in a market that is otherwise quite open.

I certainly feel that those prices will only drop as the window actually starts too.
