The game weeks are running out for teams to lock down a top four finish in the first ever Baller League UK. Whilst the top four route remains a viable and realistic passage into the playoffs for most teams in the competition, it is hard to look past the current top two when assessing the best sides.
Yanited and Deportrio have both been on the receiving end over the last couple of weeks but they continue to trade blow for blow against one another, as nicely captured by their respective 3-2 wins this week.
With that duo looking good for a top four finish, it means there is two more spots up for grabs over the next three weeks.
Here are the latest outright Baller League odds and how they have moved from last week.
Yanited have ended game week 8 on top of the Baller League standings having bounced back from two weeks without a win by beating M7 FC in a hard-fought match up. After running out 3-2 winners courtesy of a Pique Humble brace, Angry Ginge's side have seen their outright odds improve from 12/5 to 9/4 giving them a 1.4% increase in probability.
It's the second-best improvement seen across all the Baller League sides this week.
The only side that can beat Yanited where probability improvements are concerned is their long-running rival, Deportrio. Those two sides have long looked the most likely to go on and clinch glory in this competition and their similarities were on show again Monday; Deportrio bounced back from a surprise defeat in week 7 to beat Rule the World. Coincidentally, like Yanited, they won 3-2 with a brace from one of their top players, Bakary Sako.
The win puts them level on points with Yanited in the standings and has seen their probability upturn by 1.9%; that's an odds change from 11/4 to 5/2.
Rewind to last week and Santan were the big winners of the game week as they tucked up Deportrio. A week is a long time in football though and, apparently, even longer in Baller League. Santan have slipped down to fifth place now having suffered their third defeat of the campaign.
The latest blow came against MVPs United with the manner of their defeat a major concern; they were 4-0 down within just five minutes. It shines a light on how quickly teams could potentially blow Santan away as we get to the business end of the competition. Their outright probability has reduced by 6%.
If Yanited and Deportrio are the two most-fancied sides in Baller League then VZN are unquestionably the best of the rest, at least they are in the eyes of the bookmakers. They've only won half of their games to date but sit third in the standings.
A run of three games without a win will be a concern for them, particularly given they lost last time out, but the bookies are still increasing their chances of winning the competition from a bookmaker stats angle. Their probability step up from 14.3% up to 15.4% tracks only behind the aforementioned favourites.
