Many are quite on the fence about AI and its involvement in different areas. However, we have yet to see the technology put to work in a betting sense. So, we asked ChatGPT and the only bookmaker to offer an AI betting assistant, NetBet, to give us two bet builders each for the PSG-Inter Champions League final.
It is worth noting that this was trialled before the lineups were announced. However, this is what we were given by the two.
So, we opted to start with NetBet, given this was an actual bookmaker-hosted tool, and the results were, well, a little interesting to say the least.
We first asked the AI for a 'low-risk' three-selection (or more) bet builder, and there were certainly a few issues from the off. In fact, we could not add the bet to our betslip after asking for some help from the AI.
Nevertheless, NetBet settled on the following: Double Chance (PSG or Draw), Under 3.5 Goals, and Both Teams to Score, which came in at 11/4 at the time of writing.
Then, we asked for a higher-risk bet builder, and as can be seen below, the AI struggled a little bit with this concept, to say the least.
In the first bet, the AI suggested that we place a bet builder of PSG to win, Inter to win and the game to be a draw. We're not sure about that, it feels almost impossible. Then, we were told to put Inter to win and PSG to lift the trophy. Again, it wasn't too feasible.
So, we had to get involved and ask for some different markets to be put forward once again, which, again, saw a few struggles.
However, we eventually got an answer. The 'higher-risk' bet builder provided by the NetBet AI was as follows: PSG to lift the trophy, Draw in 90 minutes and Over 2.5 goals - which was priced at 10/1 at the time of writing.
With ChatGPT, things were certainly a bit easier, and we did not have to jump over hurdles to get the assistance from the AI programme.
We, again, started with asking for a 'lower risk' bet builder with three legs, and ChatGPT replied immediately with the following bet:
PSG to Win, Over 2.5 Goals and Both Teams to Score, which came back valued at 7/1.
Then, getting the higher-risk bet was just as easy, with us only having to give one prompt to ChatGPT before it gave us back a three-leg bet builder. This time, it selected the following:
Match Result to be a Draw, Over 3.5 Goals, Lautaro Martinez to Score Anytime, which came back at almost 40/1. Though, dare we say it seemed slightly more feasible than the higher-risk bet from NetBet...
Interestingly, with both selections, some insight was provided to deepen the reasoning why you might place the bet. Of course, NetBet AI struggled with the request anyway, so it is probably going to be a while before we see any reasoning offered.
