You can use PayPal on all of the UK betting sites in our list above for both depositing and withdrawing money. But, this is mostly for the UK and Irish residents. If you are living in any other country, check out their FAQ page for more information.
However, it is important to note that there are few free bets & signup offers that work with PayPal deposits. Most of the signup bonuses exclude PayPal and other e-wallet deposits in terms and conditions. Be sure to check our T&Cs below each of our betting offers to see if PayPal deposits are eligible for the bonus.
PayPal needs little introduction for most people in the UK. But, why would you use it for online betting?
Fast Withdrawals: Depending on the betting site and if your account is verified, PayPal withdrawals can arrive in your account within 15 minutes. At worst, the withdrawal is usually in your account within 24 hours.
Security: PayPal is a reputable and secure payment platform. There are several security measures to help safeguard your account and finacial information including fraud monitoring and prevention, data encryption, key pinning and security keys.
Email Payment Confirmation: You will receive an email any time you send or receive a PayPal payment. This ensures you can alert PayPal quickly if you didn't make a transaction.
Convenience: PayPal is user-friendly and easy to set up by linking your bank account or debit card to your PayPal wallet. This also means you do not need to share sensitive details with the bookmakers directly.
Privacy: Using PayPal for online betting means you do not need to share sensitive details with the bookmakers directly.
Fees: Fees are often waived by most betting sites in the UK, but not all. Be sure to check each bookmaker to see if they charge for deposits or withdrawals.
Withdrawal Delays: Some betting sites may have slower withdrawal processes due to security checks.
Bonus restrictions: There are not many welcome bonuses in the UK that activate with PayPal deposits. Most will exclude PayPal from the bonus requirements meaning you might need to deposit with a debit card to receive your bonus. Be sure to check the key terms and conditions for every welcome bonus.
PayPal is safe and is properly regulated for many UK betting sites. They provide a quick, safe, and easy way to make instant deposits in many different currencies (depending on the bookmaker).
PayPal will not share your full financial information with the betting sites and comes with 24/7 monitoring, secure technology, fraud prevention, dispute resolution and purchase protection around the world. If you face any issues while using PayPal, you will find a responsive support section to help.
If you want to use PayPal as a payment method on a betting site, you will need to create a PayPal account first, which is easy to do. Navigate to the official PayPal website, open a "Personal" account, and complete the registration process. This includes details such as your full name, phone number, and address etc.
Then, you will need to verify your account by linking a bank account to your PayPal profile. You can also connect other bank cards and payment methods, such as e-wallets. But if you plan to use PayPal for betting, you cannot use a credit card in the UK anymore.
Depositing and withdrawing with a PayPal account may seem difficult if you have only used debit cards before. However, it is just as simple and can be done in just a few steps. Most of which are eliminated after your first deposit.
In this example, we chose to use William Hill's app, which is one of the best betting options across the board.
After opening the app, you will be brought to the main screen where you bet from. When tapping in the top right corner of your screen, you will be brought to the main ‘Profile’ area of the app, where you can begin to deposit funds.
You will have a few options here, but select the ‘Deposit’ tab.
Next, you need to select the payment method that you would like to use for the deposit. If you have any saved methods, these will also show at the top of the screen. Here, we want to tap the 'PayPal' choice.
From here, you will have to confirm the amount that you would like to deposit, as well as sign into your PayPal account. Then, you will be shown the screen below, asking which card you would like to use. Finally, tap the 'Continue to Review Order' option.
Once done, you will be returned to the app, with the PayPal pop-up closing automatically, and you can begin betting. In the future, your details will be saved, so the process will get a tad quicker!
Once again, you need to tap on the profile icon in the top right of your screen, which will bring you to the main 'Profile' section. The first step is the same as when making a deposit at William Hill.
After selecting the ‘Withdraw’ option in the profile section, you will be taken to the following screen. Simply enter your withdrawal amount and select the ‘Withdraw’ button.
You should not have to confirm which method you would like to use, because most UK bookmakers will automatically withdraw to the most recently used method.
After tapping on ‘Withdraw’ on the previous page, you will be taken to a withdrawal review screen, where the amount and withdrawal method will be clarified - here, it is worth double-checking that it says PayPal. If the details are correct, select ‘Withdraw’ once again.
After this, your withdrawal will be completed, and you will be provided with a ‘Transaction ID’ (though in our time using the app, we have never needed to use this). Furthermore, in our latest test, the money was withdrawn and arrived in the user’s bank account within seconds.
