Asian Goal Line Betting Explained

Asian goal line bets are very popular on the best UK betting sites and involve football fans having to predict the number of goals scored in a game. As such, they have some similarities to other markets like over/under and total goals.

Asian goal line bets, however, are different to Asian handicap betting even though the name is quite similar. With this type of bet, people pick out a certain number of goals to be scored in a match. As a result, it does not actually matter which team wins the game or even which players score the goals, as long as the prediction on the Asian goal line bet is accurate.

Asian goal lines offer quarter and half-goal options, which is where it can get a bit confusing. Full goal options can also be found on this betting market, as well as the chance to get a stake back.

How Asian Goal Line Betting Works

Next up, our guide will take football fans through exactly how the different types of Asian goal line betting work.

  • Asian Full Goal Line Betting

For example, let's say that Manchester United are hosting Crystal Palace in a Premier League game. United would be strong favourites, so football fans look elsewhere for some value.

Asian full goal line betting would involve predicting how many goals will be scored in the game. If the Asian full goal line betting is set at 2.0, this means people have to decide whether they think there will be more than two goals scored, or less than two goals scored, during the match.

If United win 3-0, then the over 2.0 wager is a winner. If the game ends 1-0 to either side, then an over 1.0 goal line bet loses. In the event of a 1-1 draw, or any other score that sees two goals scored, the stake would be refunded due to the fact the wager is considered a push.

  • Asian Half Goal Line Betting

In Asian half goal line betting, there is no opportunity for a push bet as the third outcome is always taken out of the reckoning. With half goals, the over/under bet has to either win or lose.

For the Manchester United v Crystal Palace example above, the Asian half goal line betting market might be set at 2.5 goals. This would work in the same way as over/under 2.5 goals.

However, there is also the option to try a split Asian half goal line bet, which as an example might be 2 / 2.5. This means half of the wager goes on each section of an Asian goal line bet.

In the event of two goals being scored in the game, half of the bet would lose and half would be a push, resulting in this part of the stake being returned to the player. If three or more goals are scored in the game between United and Palace, then both parts of the bet are winning wagers.

  • Asian Quarter Goal Line Betting

Lastly, Asian quarter goal line betting rounds out the different options for Asian goal line bets.

Football fans taking on the Asian quarter goal line betting options will split their stake equally between a whole goal bet and the quarter goal bet. Again, this means that part of the stake can be returned due to the bet being termed a push.

In practice, Asian half goal line betting and Asian quarter goal line betting work in very much the same way, so it is merely a matter of personal preference which football fans will go with.
