Is CopyBet Legit? Yes, CopyBet has become quite popular among UK punters in recent years and deserves to be labelled as legit. It is licensed by the UKGC, as is a must, but the Trustpilot rating could certainly be a bit better. Furthermore, the withdrawal process on the site left a lot to be desired when we tested it. Still, it's certainly not a scam.
CopyBet entered the fierce UK betting market in 2017 and has since gained a relatively big customer base. In addition to the sportsbook, which is the main reason why people sign up, the bookie also offers a tipster section where punters can copy the bets of others. Hence the name of the brand.
The parent company Copybet UK Limited is licensed and regulated by the UK Gambling Commission under licence number 53774. This licence only includes betting, as opposed to other bookies which tend to have bingo, casino, virtual and more. The sportsbook is provided by BetConstruct, which technically makes it a sister site of VBet.
Like many other betting sites, CopyBet struggles with a low Trustpilot score of just 1.9 out of five stars. Many of the complaints are about the welcome offer, which we can certainly understand given that the T&Cs are quite strict. 77% of the Trustpilot reviews are one star, so that certainly suggests that CopyBet must improve its communication.
Potential new customers will be happy to hear that CopyBet is registered with IBAS, the Independent Betting Adjudication Service. Disputes between punters and bookies can be escalated to IBAS for an independent ruling, and for betting sites that are registered, this ruling is also legally binding. Of course, this adds another layer of safety at CopyBet.
Although this is quite common among the new betting sites in the UK, CopyBet still deserves praise for not having been fined by the UKGC. After all, it has been in business since 2016 and if poor practices had been in place, then the UKGC would have been all over it. In fact, fines have increased in recent years as the body aims to cut down on gambling addiction.

When evaluating the legitimacy and safety of a betting site, most punters tend to see withdrawals as a great benchmark. Furthermore, in addition to preferring betting sites with fast withdrawals, punters also want to know that the welcome offer can be easily claimed. Of course, we took a closer look at this ourselves at CopyBet.
Given that CopyBet has one of the best welcome offers on the market, we went through the process of claiming it. The big question, therefore, is if it was easy. We certainly felt so, as starting the process can be done by tapping on 'Sign Up' on the app or the website, or 'Claim Offer' above.
Immediately after creating the account, before you can make a deposit or claim the welcome offer, you will need to verify your identity. This can be done with a driver's licence or any other form of ID.
Since it is one of the best welcome offers available, one can understand why many punters want to claim it. However, it should be noted that in order to do so, the first deposit must be made with the Instant Banking method. The minimum odds for the qualifying bet of at least £10 must also be 1.9. Upon settlement, the free bets are credited in stages.
Fast withdrawals are key for all betting sites, with most of them offering just that. However, our test of CopyBet's withdrawal time left us rather disappointed as we had to wait for 48 hours. This is significantly slower than the best betting sites in the UK, which tend to take just a few hours.
Our writer Ben, who carried out the tests says: "CopyBet is still relatively new to the industry and it shows. While the first deposit is restricted to Instant Banking, we were also disappointed to see that methods such as Apple Pay, Google Pay, Neteller and Skrill were unavailable for subsequent deposits even though we tried several times. The withdrawal time, as said, wasn't good either so there is a lot to work on. At least we didn't have issues claiming the welcome offer, which counts for something."
