Different kind of betting bonuses
There are some different kind of betting bonuses. The most popular one here in the UK are the famous free bets, another popular type of betting bonus is the so called match bonus.
Free bets – the most popular type
This is the most used betting bonus in the uk. A free bet is usually triggered upon your first bet on a betting site that you just made your first deposit on. In most cases you’ll get one free bet with the same size as your first bet up to a certain point. Let’s take William Hill for example. Their free bet offer is the following: Bet £10 and get £20 in free bets credited as two £10 free bets. That means that after you bet your first bet on at least £10 you’ll get two free bets that you can use totally for free. That means that even though you just deposited £10 you can still play for £30.

A match bonus is triggered on a deposit and more often than not that deposit is your first deposit. A match bonus means that the bookie will match your first deposit up to a certain amount. So basically they’ll double your first deposit. But, of course, the bookie doesn’t want to give you completely free money so there’s one catch and that’s the wagering requirements. Usually a match bonus has a wager requirement of somewhere around x6 which means that you’ll need to wager the bonus six times before you can make a withdrawal.
Let’s take Betssons’s betting bonus as an example. They have a match bonus of 100% up to £25. If you make a first deposit of £25 they’ll double that so now you have £50 (£25 x 2) in your account. Their wager requirement is the bonus six times which means that you’ll need to wager £150 (£25 x 6) before making a withdrawal.
