It will be hard to beat last week’s encounter between these two giants of the game. The game was an edge of your seat spectacle all the way through. Liverpool won comfortably until Salah was subbed off. It finished 5-2 but for most of the game, it never looked in doubt for Liverpool.
Salah did indeed break a record that night, for the first player to score two goals and provide two assists in a Champions League Semi-Final. However before the game was finished, Roberto Firmino also achieved that same feat, along with quite a few missed opportunities from other players (notably Mane) it could have been much, much worse for the Roma faithful.
However, they are now heading to the Stadio Olimpico, were the same deficit was overturned against a very respectable Barcelona. But can lightning really strike twice, for me, it’s a no.
I think the beating Liverpool gave Roma in the first leg landed a serious psychological blow. Knowing they scored five and could have scored a few more will be playing in their minds come tonight. I also believe Roma and many other teams are not quite sure how to defend against Liverpool, their high press and vigorous energy are tough to handle.
Liverpool’s unbeaten run has been extended to nine games in all competitions now. Yes, they may have looked sluggish against Stoke at the weekend, however, I expect them to rise to the occasion and put in a solid performance tonight. Liverpool needs just one goal to equal the most goals scored in a Champions League campaign and they average 3.45 goals a game.

Liverpool- Players expected to return
Roma- Players expected to be out injured
Liverpool is the highest scoring side in this year’s Champions League, it’s difficult to see them struggling too much against Roma in this second leg. With the odds boost of 50/1, it is hard to pass up such a decent offer on them winning. Therefore at normal odds, Liverpool is still very much worth the money.
