How does the NBA work? ⇓
The NBA is compromised of 30 teams divided into two conferences (Eastern and Western Conference). Each NBA conference is split into three divisions with five teams in each division. Each team plays 82 regular season games, 41 at home and 41 away.
Eastern Conference
- NBA Atlantic: Boston Celtics, Brooklyn Nets, New York Knicks, Philadelphia 76ers, Toronto Raptors
- NBA Central: Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers, Detroit Pistons, Indiana Pacers, Milwaukee Bucks
- NBA Southeast: Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Hornets, Miami Heat, Orlando Magic, Washington Wizards
Western Conference
- NBA Northwest: Denver Nuggets, Minnesota Timberwolves, Oklahoma City Thunder, Portland Trailblazers, Utah Jazz
- NBA Pacific: Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers, Phoenix Suns, Sacramento Kings
- NBA Southwest: Dallas Mavericks, Houston Rockets, Memphis Grizzlies, New Orleans Pelicans, San Antonio Spurs
The NBA playoffs feature 16 teams, with 8 teams from each conference reaching the playoffs. The three division winners from each conference go through, and five teams with the best records that did not win their division go through.
