Liverpool’s title hopes were given a great boost by Man City losing at Newcastle last night. If they can capitalise on that with all three points, it will certainly look good for Liverpool fans. The Reds have won 11 of their last 12 Premier League matches while winning the last seven at Anfield.
Liverpool’s record at Anfield is pretty special, with them now unbeaten in their last 32 home PL matches (W23 D9), and I see that winning trend continuing tonight. But, Leicester are capable of giving them a good match.
Leicester fell victim to an injury time winner last time out at Wolves as they lost in a 4-3 thriller. In fact, the Foxes have scored at least one goal in all but one of their away matches this season. Yes, they will be in for a tough time at Anfield, against the best defence in the league.
But, Liverpool look set to be without VVD as he is suffering from illness, and even if he did play, I feel Leicester have a goal in them.
Still, Liverpool have won four of their last five Premier League H2H meetings while winning every match at Anfield since 2015. This fixture can often see a lot of goals with both teams scoring in six of their last seven meetings.
Will Watford cause another midweek shock tonight? Spurs are in a little bit of a crisis with injuries, and their recent cup disappointments. Tottenham are facing another trophyless season and even their top four finish will be in contention without Kane and Alli.
Spurs have lost three of their last four games in all competitions while failing to score twice. But, Spurs are strong at home and should bounce back with a strong performance in this match. Also, a key attacking threat in Son Heung-Min should be back for this game after finishing the Asian Cup
Meanwhile, Watford are unbeaten in their last six matches while scoring two or more goals in their last five away matches in a row. They have even managed to keep three clean sheets in that time, but I struggle to see them keeping Spurs out tonight.
Spurs have only failed to score in two home matches this season, and I know they are missing Kane. But, they have a team capable of scoring goals, or at least one to land this pick.
Fiorentina go into this match on the back of a 4-3 thriller against Chievo on the road while seeing a 3-3 draw in the match before that. Similarly, Roma comes from a 3-3 draw against Atalanta on the road while winning 3-2 in the match before that against Torino.
Roma have scored five goals in their last two away matches, and I struggle to see Fiorentina keeping them out in this match. But, the same can be said for Roma. Fiorentina are in fine scoring for at the moment with seven goals in their last two matches while conceding six.
Roma have been quite poor on the road this season, but they have hit form at just the right moment. However, they are still conceding goals for fun and have just one clean sheet in their last ten matches.
