To start, Chelsea come into this match in fine scoring form, and I see that continuing against a Valencia side that are struggling after the clubs owners strangely sacked their successful manager, Marcelino Garcia Toral just six days ago.
After losing Marcelino, Valencia went on to get hammered 5-2 just three days ago, and I believe they could be in for another high scoring loss against Chelsea tonight.
The Blues come off the back of an emphatic 5-2 away victory against Wolves in which Tammy Abraham bagged a hat-trick. Chelsea have now scored two or more goals in their last three matches scoring a total of 10 goals, but they have conceded six goals in those three games (two each) too.
I am wary of backing a Chelsea result in this game, and I do see value in this bet with both teams scoring which increases the price to 3.60 if you fancy it.
But, I am sticking with my original pick, and backing Chelsea to score two or more goals tonight.
As for the Valencia cards, Cuneyt Cakir is the ref in charge of tonight’s action, and boy does he love a card.
He averages 4.07 yellow cards per match and 0.23 red cards, and the cards should come out tonight for the poorly disciplined Valencia side.
Valencia have received 11 yellow cards and one red card in their first four league games, and I see good value in them picking up two or more in tonight’s game.
Chelsea have a number of skillful and pacy players that can draw fouls tonight, and I can see Valencia’s poor discipline, + a card friendly ref working in our favour.
