A tale of opposites coming from their World Cup campaigns, with Sweden struggling to hit any kind of form after their impressive run. Conversely, Russia has built on their confidence, winning two games while scoring seven goals in the process.
Sweden has lost their last two games while conceding five goals. Their last competitive game was a huge disappointment, as they let slip a 2-0 lead ultimately losing 3-2 at home to Turkey.
Russia are usually pretty solid on their home turf and it shined in their splendid World Cup campaign, which saw them knock out Spain, before losing to Croatia on penalties. However, Russia struggles to keep clean sheets, with just four in their last 19 home matches. In fact, Russia has conceded in 12 of their last 13 matches at home, with their last four seeing both teams score.
The Swedes will be pushing for a result in tonights clash to try an avoid the possibility of relegation in their group. Their hopes will be boosted with two key players returning to the squad. Emil Forsberg and Andreas Granqvist returning after recovering from injuries for the last two matches.
Israel comes into this match in terrible form, with four home defeats in a row. Israel hasn’t won on their home turf since a friendly against their U21 team back in March 2017… and have lost five of their last six matches while scoring just two goals in the process. In their last ten matches, they have one win against a lowly-ranked Lichtenstein while drawing one and losing eight.
Scotland comes from a solid 2-0 win against Albania in their last match, making it four wins in their last ten matches. But, they have failed to score in three of their last four matches, so the draw no bet is there as a safety net. Against lower ranked teams, Scotland has done very well winning eight and drawing three of their last 11 fixtures.
The Scots have won all three of their previous H2H matches, but I have this feeling it could be a hard-fought draw, hence the Draw No Bet pick.
These are two quite inconsistent teams, but Portugal comes into this match in better form. They might be without Ronaldo, but there is still some solid attacking talent in their lineup, with the in-form Andre Silva leading the line. He has scored seven goals in his last eight starts for Sevilla and will be a real danger tonight.
Poland have the wonderful bagsman in Robert Lewandowski, who usually scores for fun in the group stages. But, they also have some in form Polish international’s who are banging in goals in the Serie A this season. Krzysztof Piatek has now scored 13 goals for Genoa in eight starts this season and I see one of these players getting a goal tonight.
Both teams have scored in three of their last four H2H fixtures, and Poland has seen back to back 1-1 draws in their last two games. In fact, Poland has just one clean sheet in their last five matches while Portugal has seen both teams score in three of their last four matches.
