Jermaine Wattimena v Michael Barnard20/12/2018 12:45
Under 5.5 180s
Alan Norris v Steve Lennon20/12/2018 13:45
Over 16.5 legs
Stephen Bunting v Luke Humphries20/12/2018 14:45
Over 16.5 legs
I know, this is a fairly low 180s count for a game that could stretch out a bit. But, neither of these players are good at hitting the maximum. Wattimena has not hit over 2 180s for over 20 games with most seeing 1 180.
Michael Barnard hit just one 180 in 24 legs of darts in his first-round victory against Jose de Sousa. Also, he is not known for hitting 180s while only hitting four in his last seven matches.
Barnard’s slow style will likely knock Wattimena out of his rhythm too, but either way, I can not see many maximums in this match.
Alan Norris has been struggling for a little while now, and Lennon can throw some great darts, but I see this game going all the way. Lennon saw 13 legs in his 3-0 win against James Bailey, and I see a number of these sets going to the wire.
This should be a fairly scrappy darts match, and I struggle to see one player taking control of this match. Their last three meetings have seen the match go all the way with 11 legs in each encounter.
Hopefully, this trend will continue in what I think should be a tight win for Steve Lennon.
Another tough game to call. Luke Humphries played a great game in his first round win against Adam Hunt averaging 97.58 while hitting five maximums. But, this should be a closer match against a very capable Stephen Bunting that has started to throw some great darts this year.
Again, I can see this match going all the way if Luke plays anywhere near his first round performance. Luke has won their last two meetings earlier in the year, but can he do it again on the big stage?
Bunting always seems to be involved in matches going the distance on TV, with a 10-9 win against Peter Wright and a 7-10 loss against Danny Noppert a few weeks back.
