Sarpsborg 08 v Genk04/10/2018 20:00
Chelsea v MOL Vidi FC04/10/2018 20:00
Chelsea will undoubtedly rotate their squad for this match, but I see nothing else than a hammering against Vidi. They lost their last game at home to BATE and Chelsea’s rotated squad should be more than capable of scoring three or more goals against them.
I am a big fan of Sarri’s Chelsea, as they look exciting going forward and pretty solid defensively. Sarri actually started a very strong team in their win against PAOK last time out, and I expect to see plenty of the same at Stamford Bridge tonight.
Chelsea will be full of confidence after beating Liverpool in the Carabao Cup and dominating them once again in the League, to only fall short to a brilliant Sturridge goal. The Blues have scored ten goals in their first four home matches under Sarri against much better defences than Vidi’s.
All they need is an early goal and this could be a bloodbath. Chelsea has a fantastic record against the lower teams in the group stages, in which they have led at halftime in all of their wins, so an early goal seems fairly likely in this one.
Sarpsborg are in terrible form and are free falling down the Norwegian league right now. They have lost their last seven matches in all competitions and morale must be pretty low.
Genk are in terrific form right now and they haven’t lost a match since May against Standard Liege. Since that loss, they have won 25 games and drawn three. They have scored 4+ goals in their last three wins and kept two clean sheets at home. But, on the road they have seen BTTS in five of their last six games.
Sarpsborg are in just dreadful form, but they are still scoring a goal or two. They have scored 1 or more goals in their last nine EL games in a row and have only failed to score at home once, in their last 12 matches. But, this is why we think Genk will have to push for 2 or more goals to get the win in this one.
Genk have been scoring for fun this season, with a massive 26 goals in their nine matches so far, while actually scoring 14 of them on the road.
Salzburg are in terrific form going into this match, with nine wins in a row in their domestic league, and their 3-2 away win against RB Leipzig last time out. Celtic’s form is below average, as they have made their worst start to a league season for 20 years.
RB Salzburg has kept a clean sheet in six of their last eight home Europa League games while scoring 2+ goals in four of their last five home EL matches. Overall they are now on a 16 game unbeaten streak in all competitions, winning 14 and drawing 2. The last time Salzburg tasted defeat at home in the EL was in the 16/17 season to Nice!
They have won seven of their last nine home games while scoring a total of 18 goals in the process, which includes a 4-1 thrashing of Lazio.
Celtic are struggling with a few injury issues, but it’s more their quality on the pitch has lacked as of late. Salzburg are often seen as a feeder club for Leipzig, but you should not underestimate the quality in their side.
Even worse for Celtic, they have never won an away EL match in 14 attempts (D8 L6) while never winning a European match in Austria (D2 L3) conceding at least twice in each match.
