Yes, Aston Villa have not won a match since late December, but they should get the job done against this poor Ipswich team. Villa have dropped down to 13th in the league while sitting seven points of the playoffs.
They will need all three points from this match, anything else would be a missed opportunity against the bottom of the table Ipswich. Villa have not won a game at Villa Park for five matches, but there is certainly no shortage of goals.
They have seen 5-5, 2-2, 2-3, 2-2, and 2-2 in their last five home matches. Surely Villa will break this run and get a win against the worst team in the league? Villa are dangerous going forward as you can see by their scoring record, but they give up so many goals.
Lucky for Villa, Ipswich are not in fine scoring form, with just three goals in their last five matches while losing four and winning one. But, Ipswich’s scoring record is even worse on the road, with them failing to score in their last five matches in a row while conceding at least two goals in all of those matches.
With Villa scoring two or more goals in 11 of their 14 home matches, they should be able to continue that scoring record and get all three points this Saturday.
Rochdale are in terrible form at the moment as they travel to Oakwell against a Barnsley team that are unbeaten at home all season. Barnsley have won their last three home matches in a row while scoring seven goals and conceding just one.
Meanwhile, Rochdale have lost four of their last five matches while drawing just one. Rochdale have been on the receiving end of some big defeats in their last five matches, losing 4-0 to Bradford, 5-0 to Doncaster and 4-0 to Burton Albion.
I struggle to see them getting anything at Oakwell as Barnsley look for three points to push for promotion. Barnsley won their last two matches beating Bradford 3-0 at Oakwell and AFC Wimbledon 4-1 on the road.
I expect a fairly comfortable win for the hosts this Saturday against a team with the worst goal difference in the league at -24. Also, Rochdale have the worst defence in the league conceding a massive 59 goals in 29 games including 13 goals in their last five away matches.
Barnsley have the best defence in the league, conceding just 23 goals in the same amount of games while scoring 47 to sit as the fourth-best attack.
