Spal v Atalanta17/09/2018 19:30 |
Home win or draw |
Atalanta comes into this fixture without a win in their last four games, and a 1-0 home loss to Cagliari in their most recent match. SPAL are in good form, with 2 wins and 1 loss in their first three matches. But, more importantly, they are a solid team at home, against an Atlanta team that struggles on the road.
SPAL lost just three of their last 16 matches and continued that fine form into this season. The games are usually low scoring, and they have only conceded more than one goal in just two of their last 15 matches, keeping seven clean sheets in the process. Also, they have won their last 3 home matches in a row.
Both matches last season ended in a 1-1 draw, and it could well be another 1-1 draw tonight. SPAL open their newly refurbished stadium for this match, and we think Atalanta will struggle against a very hard to play team.
The hosts will certainly be confident going into this match, and they have only lost one match in their last six H2H meetings against Atalanta.
Celta Vigo goes into this match in fine form this season, with two wins and one draw. Most impressively beating Atletico Madrid 2-0 in their last match. Girona have won 1, drawn 1 and lost 1 game so far. But, their home form is the real concern for this match.
After the 4-1 spanking by Real Madrid, Girona are now without a win in seven home league games, while losing five of them. Celta’s potent strike force of Aspas, Gomez and Sisto are proving dangerous going forward and we can see them scoring a goal or two in this match.
Scoring two goals against the disciplined defence of Atletico is no easy feat, displaying their ability to break down one of the best defences in the league. However, Celta are still conceding goals, with 7 of their last nine matches seeing both teams score. For this reason, we are not going to back an outright Celta win, but we think there is real value in a double chance bet here.
