Frankfurt has struggled since losing Niko Kovac to Bayern in the summer. Since his departure, they have conceded 12 goals in their last five games. But, even with Kovac, they had a poor record on the road, losing nine of their last 13 away matches.
Frankfurt have been scoring though, with at least one goal in their past four matches. Marseille can be dodgy at the back and have conceded seven times so far this season.
Marseille often struggles in defence, as their open attacking play can leave them vulnerable at the back. We can see a clinical Frankfurt taking their chances in this one. In fact, they have the score on average every 3.67 shots which makes them the third-highest in the Bundesliga.
Vidi have been struggling as of late, but they rarely ever fail to score at home. They have scored in fourteen of their last sixteen home matches, and BATE have only kept two clean sheets in their last nine away matches.
BATE have a pretty terrible record in the Europa League, with just one win in their last 12 games (D5 L6), conceding 26 goals in the process. But, they are in a much better form here and should get on the scoresheet and probably win this one.
Rennes should be comfortable winners in this match, with a lot better quality in their squad. At home, Rennes are unbeaten in their last six matches, winning five of them and scoring 12 in the process. They have only kept two clean sheets, but both come in their most recent home matches.
Jablonec have had a mixed perfromance in their domestic league, winning 3, losing 4 and drawing 1. But, they have lost their last two matches without scoring and will be in for a tough time in this match.
Rosenborg have won their league three times in a row, and are on track for a fourth title. But, they have always struggled in European matches. They haven’t got out of the group stages in any of their nine attempts, and have a tough match to kick it off.
Celtic are solid at home, losing only once in their last 25 matches in the Scottish League. They have already beaten Rosenborg 3-1 in the CL qualifiers this season, and we expect a similar result in this one.
Rosenborg are only two points clear at the top of their league, so they may have one eye on their upcoming domestic games. This should play into Celtic’s hands beautifully, and we expect a strong perfromance from them.
Rapid Vienna have a solid home record in this tournament and have only lost two of their last 17 home games. But, they have conceded in the last nine EL group games, and face a Spartak side that has scored in nine of their last ten EL matches.
Spartak may not have the best form in the EL, but they have scored in their last 10 away matches, and have only lost one of their last 10 away EL matches.
In last years CL campaign they managed to score against every team apart from Liverpool, with both teams scoring in five of the six group stage matches.
