Helmond Sport v NEC Nijmegen – NEC Win and over 2.5 match goals

NEC Nijmegen were cruising to their fourth victory against Jong PSV last time out, but conceded two extra-time goals in the first half and just fell apart. They went onto conceded another two goals in the second half before NEC scored two goals late on to rescue a draw.

It was certainly a disappointing result for them, but they shouldn’t have that issue against Helmond, a team that is struggling in front of goal. Helmond have scored just three goals in five matches, with no goals in their past two matches.

NEC won this fixture last season, and have won three times and drawn once in their last four H2H meetings. NEC would have worked on their defence from the last match and will be eager to keep a clean sheet against a side that struggles to score. But, if they do concede, NEC have more than enough firepower to outscore their opponents.

NEC have won their last five matches on the road, and are unbeaten in their last 11 games. Compared to Helmond team that are without a win in their last 12 matches. Nijmegen will look to Braken and Achahbar to provide the goals, and they have nine goals between them in five matches.

PSV Youth v Volendam – PSV win

Jong PSV have struggled as of late but come into this game against a pretty poor Volendam. In their last match, they managed a 4-4 draw away to NEC and almost ruined their huge unbeaten streak at home, but NEC equalised in the 94th minute to secure the draw.

Volendam have managed to get points on the board at home, but away they haven’t even managed a goal yet, losing 3-0 and 2-0. In fact, they have only scored twice in their first five matches.

PSV are the better team in their H2H meetings, winning four and drawing once, and there is little to suggest this trend will change here. PSV will rely on stronger home form, against a Volendam that have lost their last six league matches on the road.

Roda v Eindhoven – Roda win

Roda are underperforming for the team they have but managed to end their two losses in a row with a win last week. Eindhoven are just in terrible shape at the moment, sitting bottom of the table with five losses in a row.

They had the worst defence in the league last season, and it has clearly carried over into this season too. They have scored just two goals while conceding 9, compared to Roda who has scored eight but conceded eight.

But, six of the goals conceded came in two games in a close match with Nijmegen, and an away loss to Twente. Roda will want to continue their winning ways to get the promotion hopes back on track, and it should be fairly easy against a messy Eindhoven.

Jong Utrecht v Cambuur – Cambuur win and over 2.5 goals

Cambuur have opened their season with four impressive wins and a solid away draw against NEC. They have won their last four matches in a row, scoring nine goals and conceding just two goals in the process, with two clean sheets in their last two.

Cambuur have the second-best defence in the league, conceding just 0.8 goals on average per match, compared to Utrecht who has the worst defence, conceding 2.8 goals on average. Utrecht have let in 14 goals in five matches, and will most likely concede two or more in this one too.

Utrecht have won one game so far, and lost the other four. We do not expect that form to improve in this match and can see a comfortable win for Cambuur in this one.

Cambuur could well score three or more goals in this one, but both teams have scored in three of the past four meetings, and Utrecht could get a goal here.
