Watford are looking like a brand new team this season and will take great confidence into this match after already beating Arsenal’s north London rivals. In fact, they came close again in the Carabao Cup, which saw them leading 1-0, up until the 82nd minute. They even scored again in the 89th minute to level the game and take it to penalties.
Arsenal are looking great going forward under Emery, but they still can’t get their defence right. With just one clean sheet in all their competitions so far, it looks unlikely that they will keep out this free-scoring Watford team. I don’ think Watford will keep a clean sheet either, with both teams to score looking pretty likely in this one.
Watford have actually won two of the last three meetings between these sides, and I wouldn’t put it past them to get something out of this game. Both teams have scored in three of their last four H2H matches. Arsenal and Watford have seen both teams score in 75% of their matches this season and it would be surprising if that didn’t continue here.
It is a battle of who has the worst defence in this matchup. Both teams dropping points and conceding far too many goals in their matches so far. In fact, the only teams with a worse defensive record than these two this season is Huddersfield and Cardiff. Everton are conceding an average of 1.83 goals a match, which is a total of 11 goals in six matches.
Fulham are conceding an average of 2.17 goals a match, which is a total of 13 goals in six matches. But, both teams are more than capable of scoring a goal or two in this one. Both teams scored in 9 of Everton last 12 home games in all competitions and Both teams scored in 4 of Fulham last 5 PL games.
Preston are certainly struggling in the league right now, but they are a different team at home. Scoring 2+ goals in five home matches in a row. Yet, they have only picked up two wins at home, as they cannot keep the opposition out.
They have conceded two or more goals in their last four home matches in a row, with a 2-2 scoreline featuring in three matches so far. Preston will be worried about coming up against the highest scoring team in the league, but they might be able to grind out another 2-2 draw. West Brom might be scoring for fun, but they are also worrying signs in their defence.
They are yet to keep a clean sheet away from home and only one clean sheet at home in the league. Both teams have scored in 7 of their last 9 matches in all competitions as they are conceding an average of 1.5 goals on the road.
Last but not least, a cracking match in the German Bundesliga, which features two teams that love seeing both teams score in their games. Hoffenheim goes into this match, seeing both teams score in every match so far, which is now up to eight in a row. RB Leipzig are starting to hit a bit of form, and we can see them getting a goal or two in this one.
Leipzig have scored eight goals in their last four games while conceding a total of six as they struggle to keep their opponents out. Hoffenheim follow that trend as they have scored seven goals in their last four games while conceding a total of six.
Both teams have scored in their three of their four H2H matches, with a total of 18 goals scored in four matches. This should be another high scoring affair and we expect both teams to get in on the action.
