Under Luiz Enrique, Spain have started well with the away victory against England at Wembley, which is no easy feat. They are still without Diego Costa, but Rodrigo looked pretty decent and got a goal at Wembley. Key players have retired from Spain, but there are some very capable players coming through to replace them. Thiago, Saul, Isco and Asensio to name a few in midfield.
Croatia are having some issues with their squad for this match. Key players like Lovren, Vida are both injured leaving some inexperienced CB’s to fill that void. Mandzukic has retired, and Kalinic and Kramaric are not in the squad. Meaning, Croatia are without experienced CB’s and strikers. The midfield is still filled with talent, Modric, Kovacic, Brozovic and Perisic to name a few.
We can see Spain scoring several goals in this game, against an inexperienced Croatian backline. Spain, also have more to prove after a disastrous campaign, and Luis Enrique is more than capable to get the best out of these players.
The Spanish players on show are more than capable of breaking down this Croatian defence. But, Croatia does still carry a serious threat going forward, so we have gone for over 1.5 Spain total goals instead of match winner for better value.
Belgium goes into their first UEFA Nation’s League in great form, after destroying Scotland 4-0 away. Iceland had a similar battering, but a little bit worse at the hands of the Swiss as they lost 6-0. The Swiss scoring a whopping six goals is fairly abnormal from a side that is usually quite restrained. This will be a serious worry for Iceland as they come up against one of the best attacking teams in the world.
Iceland have lost five of their last six matches at home, and in every match, they have conceded more than two goals. Belgium are just as dominant on the road as they are at home. They are unbeaten in their last seven away trips, with four wins. In the World Cup qualifiers, they won every match on the road and scored a whopping 43 goals in all their matches combined.
Belgium obviously have the ability to score more than two goals in this match. Also, Iceland may have lost their last three games, but they do score at home, with goals in all eight of their last home matches. For that reason, we see real value in the over 2.5 match goals bet. Belgium alone could win this bet, but if Iceland does manage to score, it won’t be a surprise.
