InPlayMan – The Tipster behind #TesticleTuesday

InPlayMan: An interview with the football tipster with 53,000+ followers on Twitter!
Check out InPlayMan on Twitter, he is an unaffiliated, honest football tipster that combines winning tips, banter, and a massive collection of stats on his site.
BL: To start, when did you get the idea to create InPlay Man, and why?
I actually had this account off a mate when it only had a few hundred followers. It was InplayRay back then but Bet365 tried to do me for copyright so I had to change it and Man just seemed the natural name. And the rest is history so they say
BL: What was the biggest challenge for you when starting your account, and how long did it take until you saw a significant amount of followers?
It’s always a challenge when you don’t have many followers but I honestly didn’t worry about it. A lot of tipsters always ask how they get more followers. I just tried to tip winners and be entertaining and it grew from there really
BL: You have a great way of interacting with your followers, did you always use banter, or did that develop over time?
I’ve always been one to take the piss in real life. If we can’t laugh at each other what do we have? Betting has all become too serious with tipsters over the past few years.
At the end of the day, it’s a hobby which should be fun and affordable. Too much of it can be damaging so I’m just trying to lighten the mood really and have a laugh while doing something I enjoy.
BL: I see you do not post affiliate links, or seem to be affiliated with any betting sites? Why is that, and would you ever consider it?
I used to be affiliated a while back but it just didn’t sit well with me morally. And even though not every affiliate is a conman, misleading articles from the BBC and the Guardian have now got everyone believing that.
Their “tipsters who profit when you lose” rubbish has now brainwashed everyone and I don’t have the power to change people’s minds, but I know loads of affiliates who are brilliant tipsters.
Unfortunately, I know plenty that are just in it for the money too and they give every affiliated tipster a bad name. I won’t be going back to affiliates now.
I like doing what I do and trying to help a few charities and raise awareness of topics that are important to me like the whole #TesticleTuesdays which gets my predominantly male followers thinking about their well being.
BL: The stats and research you accumulate are very impressive, how long does that take?
The stats themselves don’t take long to put together it’s the manual job of typing up every fixture with the time and date which is time-consuming. But it can be used by people to find their own bets then that’s great. I always try with the articles, stats, and banter to get people using their own brain and thinking a bit.
I could easily tell people Chesterfields average corner count of what an Asian Handicap means, but I’m expecting my followers to put a little bit of effort in so that they can become better punters at the end of it all
BL: Since we have been following you, you mostly post realistic and lower priced tips. Did you ever post accumulators, or anything different to what you post now? If so, what made you change?
You say “realistic lower priced tips” and I say, “wherever there is value“. There’s a common misconception with prices that 1/2 is a low price for example. Well if your research indicates a bet has a 90% chance of landing then 1/2 is a huge price.
I tip the odd fun acca now and again. Actually landed a 20/1 half time acca last weekend. For me though accas are a bit of fun. Singles for dough, accas for show.
Hate and abuse is inevitable on social media, how do you deal with that, and does it affect you personally?
Hate and abuse used to really bother me and I’m sure it does a lot of tipsters who are only trying to help people. Nowadays I laugh at it, to be honest. Took me a while to learn that I can’t be liked by everyone but I used to get so angry when people behind a keyboard who don’t even know me as a person are judging my morals.
I’ve been called some names on here trust me, but at the end of the day I still get to go home to my wonderful understanding wife and my kids and they’re the only opinions that really matter to me. Do I really care that Dave from Colchester thinks I’m a d**k? Nah.
BettingLounge Conclusion
Firstly, thanks to InPlayMan for doing this interview with us. We asked InPlayMan for this interview because he is one of the best tipster accounts we have seen on Twitter.
He wins tips regularly, educates his following, entertains in an industry that is primarily too serious. All while emphasizing that gambling should be done in a fun, affordable and responsible manner.
To do all this and not be affiliated to any betting sites is rare indeed.
I hope more tipsters, both affiliated and not, learn from this interview, and how he runs his account.
Great interview!
