Liverpool v Bayern Munich Betting Tips and Preview

Liverpool v Bayern Munich – Tue 19th Feb, 20:00, Anfield
Referee: Gianluca Rocchi
Champions League nights at Anfield are pretty special even for me as a neutral. The atmosphere is simply amazing, and I think we are in for a treat of a game tonight! Liverpool are not quite as prolific in the CL as last season, as they smashed goal scoring records to reach the final.
But, they are looking like a great prospect in the tournament this year, although the Premier League title could definitely be in the back of their minds. The Champions League looks pretty open this season, with no clear favourite in sight, even for the bookies.
Man City are the bookies favourite right now at 3/1, but Liverpool are not far off at 9/1 (same as Real Madrid), with Barca at 4/1, PSG, 5/1 and Juve at 7/1.
Liverpool are usually involved in some pretty entertaining matches in the Champions League, especially at Anfield in recent matches. The Reds saw excellent wins against top teams in the knockout stages last season, beating Man City 3-0 and Roma 5-2.
Also, Liverpool have won all of their home group stage matches this season, beating PSG 3-2, Red Star 4-0 and Napoli 1-0. Meanwhile, Bayern Munich had a fairly solid CL group stage, going unbeaten picking up four wins and two draws.
But, Bayern have been struggling this season with some inconsistent results and shock losses in the league. However, they have hit their stride at the right time with nine wins in their last ten Bundesliga matches.
Although, their defence has been an issue, conceding eight goals in their last five matches. But, they are still prolific scorers, hitting 14 goals in that time.
I can see Liverpool’s dangerous attack causing some issues to this vulnerable Bayern defence, but are they able to keep the German giants out?
Betting Tips
Firstly, Liverpool are 23/20 to win, the draw is 11/4 and a Bayern win is 5/2.
It is easy to see why Liverpool are favourites in this match, but they have slipped in a few of their recent results, drawing to West Ham and Liverpool in recent games. However, they did rectify this with a convincing 3-0 win against Bournemouth in their last home match.
My only worry for Liverpool is how will they cope without the influential Dutch CB, Virgil van Dijk. He is out for this match through suspension, and I do worry for their backline without him. Of course, they are still strong at the back with Matip, Robertson, and Alexander-Arnold, and I imagine Fabinho will slot in at CB with Lovren in question.
Also, Roberton Firmino was not seen in training, and apparently is suffering from a virus, which will be a big loss for the Reds up top.
Similarly, Bayern are dealing with a host of missing players, Muller (Red card), and injuries to Tolisso, Robben, Boateng, Coman and Goretzka. However, Bayern have a little bit more depth in their team to deal with these missing players.
Even without fully fit teams, I do see quite a few goals in this match, and BTTS and over 2.5 goals looks like good value at 20/21 with BoyleSports. But, I can see Liverpool coming out on top, and a BTTS match result Liverpool is best priced at 11/4 with Betfair.
