Spurs v Newcastle – Betting Tips and Preview
Spurs v Newcastle – Sat 2nd Feb, 12:30, Wembley Stadium
Referee: Andre Marriner
Spurs managed to turn around their midweek match late on and take all three points against Watford. Meanwhile, Newcastle shocked many punters with an excellent 2-1 home win against Man City.
Tottenham are still struggling on the goal front, but they did manage to get the job done against Watford despite missing a number of big chances. Spurs have not been particularly prolific at Wembley this season, scoring just 20 goals at home compared to 30 on the road.
With Kane and Alli out, those numbers do not look like dramatically improving anytime soon. Meanwhile, Newcastle have scored just 21 goals this season while struggling on the road with just nine goals. But, they have only conceded 14 in that time while drawing five matches, winning two and losing four.
I can see this being a fairly low scoring affair, but it could easily go the other way. Both teams will be more confident after their recent successes in their last matches, however, I think Benitez will set up a hard to breakdown, and organised side for this.
Newcastle have won three of their last five matches, losing two while Spurs have lost three and won two. Spurs bounced back well from their cup disappointments, but they will be in for a tough match.
The Magpies have seen the 2-1 scoreline land in a number of matches against the top sides, with Spurs beating them in the reverse fixture 2-1 earlier in the season. Son is a big boost for Spurs, but I do not expect them to get an easy win in this match.
Firstly, Spurs are 5/11 to win, the draw is 18/5 and a Newcastle win is 8/1.
To be honest, I see value in the draw or even a shock Newcastle win. Either way, I do not see much value in Spurs at 5/11. The Magpies are not exactly prolific scorers on the road, but they have scored in five of their last six away matches.
I can see value in both teams scoring, which is best priced at 11/10 with Betway.
The early kickoff could produce a shock here, and I am leaning towards Newcastle in this match. Newcastle or draw is best priced at 41/20 with 888sport. Newcastle have got a result in seven of their 11 matches and come up against Spurs at a good time for them.
The Magpies will be high on confidence for this match, and I certainly see value at 41/20 for Newcastle to get a point or all three.
