West Ham v Arsenal – Match Preview and Betting Tips

West Ham v Arsenal – Sat 12th Jan, 12:30, London Stadium
Referee: Jonathan Moss
West Ham and Arsenal both enjoyed success last weekend in their FA Cup third round ties, with the Hammers beating Birmingham 2-0, and Arsenal beating Blackpool 3-0. But, West Ham are without a win in their last two Premier League games, with only one win in their last four.
Similarly, Arsenal have won just two of their last five Premier League matches while losing two and drawing one. But, Arsenal have a great record against West Ham on the road, as they look to extend their unbeaten away run (against the Hammers) to 12 matches this Saturday.
In fact, Arsenal’s last Premier League loss on the road against West Ham came back in November 2006. But, West Ham have the early kickoff curse on their side this Saturday, can they take all three points?
In stats, you would lean towards Arsenal getting a result in this match. West Ham have lost more Premier League matches against Arsenal (29) than they have against any other side. They truly are a bogey team for the Hammers, but Arsenal have seen a dip in form.
Arsenal are winless in their last four Premier League away matches while losing two and drawing two. In their last away match the Gunners got hammered by Liverpool 5-1 at Anfield. They also lost to Southampton 3-2, drew 1-1 against Brighton and drew 2-2 against Man United. Arsenal’s last away win came back in late November, against Bournemouth.
West Ham have been a team riddled with inconsistency and injury this season, winning two, losing two and drawing one of their last five Premier League matches. But, they have been dangerous in front of goal, with eight goals in their last four home matches.
Betting Tips
Firstly, West Ham are 28/11 to win, the draw is 3/1 and an Arsenal win is 11/10.
Arsenal have got a pretty good value at 11/10, but it’s not enough for the early kickoff to tempt me. Instead, I see value in the goals in this match. Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals is best priced at 3/4 with BoyleSports.
Arsenal have seen both teams score in their last five Premier League games in a row, while West Ham have seen both teams score in three of their last four home matches. Look, both teams scoring should be a banker in this match, but I do not see it ending 1-1 (watch 1-1 land now), with both teams fairly sloppy in defence but strong going forward.
Interestingly, of the last 17 goals scored in Premier League meetings between these two, 15 of them have come in the second half. Also, Arsenal have been starting slowly in the vast majority of their games this season, so a second half bet could be good value.
The second half to be the highest scoring half is evens with Betway, but there could be value in over 2.5 goals in the second half at 12/5 if you fancy it.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has scored in his last four PL London derbies, scoring six goals and assisting twice. He is 21/20 to score anytime this Saturday with Betway!
I like the look of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to score anytime and Arsenal win at 5/2 with William Hill. As a long shot, Aubameyang to score anytime and Arsenal win 3-1 is best priced at 43/1 with BetVictor!
