Leicester v Southampton – Match Preview and Tips

Leicester v Southampton – Sat 12th Jan, 15:00, King Power Stadium
Referee: Michael Oliver
The FA Cup once again produced some magic, and Leicester was one of the unfortunate teams to fall victim with a 2-1 away loss to Newport County. But, Leicester will look to bounce back from that unexpected loss.
Leicester also had another shock loss before the new year, when they lost 1-0 to Cardiff at the King Power Stadium. But, they went on to beat Everton 1-0 at Goodison Park just a few days later. The Foxes have won three of their last four Premier League matches while keeping two clean sheets.
Meanwhile, Southampton have lost two and drawn one of their last three matches. An impressive 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge in their last Premier League match, but they lost two home games before that, against Man City and West Ham.
The Saints continue to struggle on the road, with a win against Huddersfield and a draw against Chelsea their best results nine away league matches. They are now in the drop zone after the 0-0 draw and will look to get out if they win and results go their way.
However, Leicester are pretty solid against Southampton, with just one loss in their last 12 Premier League home matches against the Saints. That one loss came all the way back in December 2001 and they are actually looking for their first goal in five PL trips to Leicester. They have gone 370 minutes without scoring in the PL at the King Power.
Leicester have been inconsistent with at home this season, winning one, losing one, winning, and then losing again. Will this pattern continue with a win for Leicester this Saturday?
Betting Tips
Firstly, Leicester are evens to win, the draw is 5/2 and a Southampton win is 10/3.
Southampton seems like a good value bet, but their record at the King Power is not something you can ignore. Leicester have beat both Chelsea, Man City and Everton in recent matches so it is hard to look past them getting something from this match.
I am going to lean towards a Leicester win, but will Southampton’s 370-minute streak without scoring at the King Power continue? It’s certainly a tough one to call, but I am leaning towards both teams scoring in this one, which is best priced at 10/11 with bet365. Surely that dreadful streak can’t continue?
On that note, I like Leicester to win and both teams score, which is best priced at 7/2 with SportNation!
