Burnley v Fulham – Match Preview and Betting Tips

Burnley v Fulham – Sat 12th Jan, 15:00, Turf Moor
Referee: Martin Atkinson
Burnley have won their last three games in all competitions, but how will they fare against relegation rivals Fulham. Burnley’s back to back Premier League wins have lifted them out of the drop zone and two points better off than Southampton in 16th.
Confidence and momentum is certainly with Burnley in this match, but will it be enough to claim three points against a Fulham side that has lost just one of their last four matches in the Premier League? Burnley have had a terrible season, but they have a good enough side to stay up.
However, they have been leaking goals this season, with a massive 42 goals in 21 matches while scoring just 21. Similarly, Fulham have had a rotten season back in the Premier League, conceding the highest number of goals (47) while scoring just 19. Fulham have the worst defensive record in the league while Burnley are the second worst.
But, both teams have improved their defence in recent weeks. Burnley have conceded just one goal in their last three games while scoring five. Meanwhile, Fulham have conceded just five goals in their last four matches with four of those goals coming in just one match (against Arsenal) and keeping two clean sheets.
However, Fulham’s confidence might be low after the loss to Arsenal, and the most recent 2-1 loss to Oldham in the FA Cup. There have been improvements under Ranieri, but Fulham’s away record does not breed confidence. Fulham are yet to win on the road this season, with nine losses and two draws.
Although, they have scored two goals in their last three away matches, with a goal against United and Arsenal. In terms of form, this looks like a match Burnley should win, but both these teams are so inconsistent and quite frankly poor, it could go either way.
Betting Tips
Firstly, Burnley are 22/15 to win, the draw is 11/5 and a Fulham win is 23/10.
To be perfectly honest, I am struggling to call a winner in this match, and I will be avoiding it in my bets. This has the potential to see goals with the poor defensive records of both teams, but it could quite as easily end as a bore draw.
But on form, I would go with Burnley at 22/15 with Unibet.
Chris Wood has scored in Burnley’s last three games in a row, he is best priced at 21/10 to score anytime with Betfair. Asides from that, I am not too sure. I would recommend leaving this game alone unless you know more as a Burnley/Fulham fan.
