Chelsea v Man City – Match Preview and Betting Tips
Chelsea v Man City – Sat 8th Dec, 17:30, Stamford Bridge
Referee: Michael Oliver
Can Chelsea bounce back from that disappointing loss at Molineux midweek? It will be tough, but Chelsea are a force at Stamford Bridge. Although, Man City won this fixture 1-0 last season, while also winning 1-0 at the Etihad.
Chelsea are in a slight rough patch, with two losses one draw and two wins in their last five matches. They won comfortably against Palace and Fulham, but they were dismantled by Spurs at Wembley.
Before that, they were frustrated by Everton and held to a bore draw at Stamford Bridge. Lastly, their midweek loss to Wolves in which they conceded two quick goals. But, both of Chelsea’s losses come on the road this season as they remain unbeaten at the Bridge.
However, asides from the 3-2 win against Arsenal, they have drawn the three other games against the top teams in the league. Conversely, Man City have won their last seven Premier League matches in a row. But, they have seen both teams score in four of their last five matches.
Man City have a number of worrying injuries with De Bruyne still out and Aguero suffering from a groin injury. But, he could be back for this match. Aguero was clearly missed in the midweek game against Watford, as Jesus cannot fit that role just yet.
A clinical goalscorer of Aguero’s nature is necessary for big games like this in which chances are often limited. Although, City are capable of scoring goals from all over the pitch with Sterling and Aguero on eight, Sane on six, Mahrez on five etc.
Man City have scored 45 goals in 15 games while averaging 3 goals per match, and only conceding 7. But, Chelsea are no stranger to goals, and have the third-best attack in the league, with 31 goals to an average of 2.07 a match while conceding just 13.
Firstly, Chelsea are 58/19, the draw is 14/5 and a Man City win is evens with BetVictor.
I do not see a lot of value in City at evens, yes they are in terrific form but evens is low against a Chelsea team that are strong at home. I see the most value in a draw at 14/5 as I think this one may end level, as it has done in three of the other big games at Stamford Bridge.
But, I also see both teams scoring, so a BTTS draw which is best priced at 18/5 with BetVictor. City have seen both teams score in four of their last five matches while I struggle to see Chelsea keeping them out.
I fancy a 1-1 draw correct score bet, which is best priced at 7/1 with BetVictor. This game will be close, and it all depends on which stars perform on the day. But, I feel it will end level.
