Everton v Newcastle – Match Preview and Betting Tips

Everton v Newcastle – Wed 5th Dec, 19:45, Goodison Park
Referee: Lee Mason
Which team will bounce back from their previous defeat? Everton will have to forget their late loss to Merseyside rivals Liverpool after a Pickford error. But, they played a lot better than Newcastle, who lost 3-0 at home to West Ham.
Everton fans will be confident in a win tomorrow against a Newcastle team they have beaten in eight of their last nine Premier League meetings. In fact, Everton have won the last five games in a row without even conceding a goal against the Magpies.
At Goodison Park Everton have won their last four games in a row winning 1-0, 3-0, 3-0 and 3-2. And, Everton’s team is arguably looking better than those previous years.
The Toffees have won their last four games in a row at Goodison Park while keeping three clean sheets and conceding just one goal. Newcastle won their last away match at Turf Moor, but they have drawn two and lost two of their last five.
Newcastle will struggle in the goals department against an Everton side that have a solid home defence. In fact, the Magpies have only scored 11 goals in 14 matches this season as they sit down in the third worst attack in the league.
But, Newcastle have scored five goals in their last five away matches while also drawing two of those games 0-0. Can they break through the Everton defence tomorrow night though?
Betting Tips
Firstly, Everton are 4/7 to win, the draw is 3/1 and a Newcastle win is at 6/1. The Magpies price at 6/1 is certainly tempting, but they haven’t won a midweek Premier League game since 2013, and their spirits will be low after that 3-0 loss to West Ham. Plus their dismal record against Everton does not bode well for Newcastle fans.
I like the look of this Halftime, Fulltime bet. Halftime = Draw, Fulltime = Everton win which is best priced at 17/5 with BetVictor. I think this game will start pretty cagey as both teams feel each other out. Also, both teams are pretty hard to break down (usually) and I think Benitez will set up in that fashion.
Everton have scored 70% of their goals this season in the second half, and I expect that trend to continue as they grind out a tight 1-0 or 2-0 victory tomorrow night. But, I think they will be held until the second half.
If you want something more simple, Everton to win to nil is best priced at 31/20 with BetVictor once again.
