Fulham v Southampton – Match Preview and Betting Tips

Fulham v Southampton – Sat 24th Nov, 15:00, Craven Cottage
Referee: Michael Oliver
Fulham have lost their last six matches in a row, but can new manager Claudio Ranieri turn things around? I never like to bet against a team with a new manager, but let’s take a look at the stats.
Southampton come into this game with just eight goals to their name after 12 games, the joint second worst attack in the league. Conversely, Fulham come into this game with the worst defence in the league, conceding a whopping 31 goals to an average of 2.58 a match.
But, how much of a difference can Ranieri make to this Fulham team? They made some promising signings this summer, but they haven’t clicked at all while showing signs of a defence that would struggle in the Championship.
I really do not know how this game is going to turn out, a part of me thinks it’s going to be a cagey affair with both teams wanting to avoid a loss. But, the optimist in me is hoping for a positive attacking display from both teams as they look for a crucial three points.
A bit of history, Fulham have only lost one of their last 14 home league matches against Southampton.
Overall, Fulham are yet to keep a clean sheet in the league, but the Saints have failed to score in six Premier League matches this season.
Betting Tips
I saw that people have been betting on Fulham to win the Premier League at 5000/1… I am almost certain Ranieri will not pull that off again, but I think he will get a win in his first game in charge, and I love the odds at 17/10 with Betfair.
Also, the optimist in me thinks this game will produce a fair few goals, despite what the stats may suggest. Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals is best priced at 23/20 with William Hill.
