Watford v Liverpool – Match Preview and Betting Tips
Watford v Liverpool – Sat 24th Nov, 15:00, Vicarage Road
Referee: Jonathan Moss
Are we going to be treated to another six-goal thriller? In this fixture, last season the match ended 3-3 with a late (93rd minute) Britos goal claiming the point for Watford. But, this was followed by a 5-0 thumping at Anfield in their next meeting.
Liverpool have really impressed me this season, but they did lose their last away match in the Champions League against Red Star Belgrade 2-0. This has put a lot of pressure on their next CL matches, with there being a real possibility of them not going through the group stages.
But, they have been very solid in the Premier League with nine wins and three draws, while scoring 23 goals and conceding just 5. Liverpool did slip up a few times on the road last season, but they have already got positive results at Spurs, Chelsea and Arsenal.
Watford made an excellent start to their Premier League campaign, but they have been inconsistent in their recent matches. They have just two wins in their last eight PL matches while drawing two and losing four.
Watford have been more consistent at Vicarage Road, with four wins and two losses, but they will be in for a tough match against Liverpool this Saturday. They have conceded eight goals at home this season, while Liverpool have scored in all six of their away matches so far.
Roberto Pereyra is in fine for the Hornets this season with four of his five goals coming at Vicarage Road. Roberto Firmino has been involved in seven goals in his last five PL matches against Watford with four goals and three assists. He scored and assisted a goal in Liverpool’s last visit to Vicarage Road.
Liverpool are best priced at 11/20 to win this match with William Hill, 7/2 for the draw with BetVictor and 28/5 for a Watford win with Unibet.
I do not see a lot of value in the Liverpool win, but I do see value in both teams finding the net, which is best priced at 4/5 with Betfred. Watford have scored in all but one of their home matches this season, with the only failure coming from going down to ten men early in the match.
Liverpool have scored in all of their away matches this season, and I struggle to see Watford keeping them out.
Roberto Pereyra is the most likely to score in this match for Watford, and he is best priced at 23/5 to score anytime with Unibet.
