Spurs vs Liverpool – Sat 15th Sep, 12:30, Wembley, Ref: Michael Oliver
This is the first big test for Klopp’s Liverpool, but can they make it five wins in a row? Liverpool only conceded their first goal of the season last match, through a shocking Alisson error. Trying to dribble the ball out of your own box, whilst a player is sprinting at you is never a good idea, unless your Messi.
Liverpool have looked pretty damn good though. Scoring nine goals and conceding just once is a great start for the Reds. But, will they improve on their average away form from last season? They lost to Spurs 4-1 in this fixture last season, as well as another four losses and five draws conceding 28 goals in the process.
Spurs are still the same team from last season, and have a great record at “home”. Only losing two games (Chelsea and Man City) all season. They won 13 and drew four scoring a total of 40 goals and conceding just 16 at Wembley. Tottenham’s form this season had been fairly decent, up until last weeks away loss to Watford.
At home, Spurs average 2.3 goals and Liverpool average 2.4 away. There is usually goals when these two meet with the average sitting at 3.2 per match. Liverpool have lost just one of their last five games against Spurs in all competitions (Spurs home fixture last season) but Salah still managed a goal in that 4-1 battering.
Betting Tips
It is hard to see a clean sheet for either side in this match. BTTS could be good value in an acca bet and is best priced at 5/9 with 10Bet. But, we don’t think it will end as a 1-1 draw either. Over 2.5 goals will have better value at 7/11 with Unibet.
In terms of who will score those goals, two names stand out the most. Harry Kane loves this fixture and scoring in big games. He has been directly involved in seven goals in seven PL appearances against Liverpool. He has scored five and assisted two, including three goals in their last two matches. Kane is 5/4 to score anytime with Unibet.
Mohamed Salah is the next and loves a goal in this fixture. He has scored all three of Liverpool’s PL goals against Spurs last season. Salah is 10/7 to score anytime with Unibet.
Spur’s could be without Dele Alli as he suffered a muscle strain before England’s friendly, as well as Lloris who has a thigh injury. They are both slight doubts but could be back for this match.
This is the first real test for Liverpool’s back line, that looked pretty shaky towards the end of the match against Leicester, and nervous at times against Palace. We think Spurs will continue their fine home form, and bounce back well from that away loss to Watford. We are going for a BTTS match result Spurs, which is best priced at 7/2 with William Hill.
