Huddersfield vs Cardiff | Premier League – Matchweek 3 of 38 Betting Preview and Tips
Huddersfield vs Cardiff – Sat 25th Aug, 15:00, John Smith’s Stadium, Ref: Michael Oliver
A battle of relegation favourites with Huddersfield relying on their home form to keep them up like last season. They managed just nine win’s last season with six of them being crucial home victories. But, they also got well needed draws both home and away to scrape together a respectable 37 points and avoid the drop by just four points.
Wagner as his men will be desperate for a better performance after facing two of the toughest teams the league can throw at you. Facing Chelsea and Man City is tough for any team (Arsenal favoured no better) but conceding nine goals in two games is bound to hit the team morale. Now they will be looking to secure their first three points against a weaker looking Cardiff City team.
There aren’t exactly a lot of positives to take from the two defeats. They need to put the two games behind them and focus on each match as it comes. Cardiff City has had a pretty rough start to the new season but did grind out a home draw against Newcastle to put the first point on the board. Cardiff did have the better first half and had the best chances to score a goal.
However, they did play fairly poorly against ten men for almost 30 minutes and were lucky to draw late on after Kennedy’s terrible penalty attempt was saved by Neil Etheridge in stoppage time. Away from home could be an issue for a team that performed admirably in the Championship with 11 wins and 5 draws but had 7 away losses last season.
Betting Tips
A tough and potentially dull encounter at the John Smith’s stadium could be upon us. These two have mostly played against each other in the Championship, with Cardiff winning the majority of the matches. Huddersfield are certainly struggling for form, but have played some of the top teams in their last games.
The Terriers will certainly want to put that 6-1 hammering behind them as they look to win a big three points in a potential relegation battle. But can they do it? Cardiff City are still without a goal in their first two games, and this is the fixture looking the most likely for them.
Neil Warnock has a great record against Huddersfield, but it was again in the Championship. With Cardiff’s form and lack of goals, we can see the Terries taking home the three points or at the very least a draw.
Huddersfield are best priced at 13/10 for the win with Unibet.
